As per the basic eligibility criteria of BITSAT Exam, candidates must have passed 12th class with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology securing at least 75% marks in aggregate and an individual score of at least 60% in all the subjects. Candidates who have qualified 12th class board exams in 2024 or are appearing in class 12th board exam in 2025 will be considered eligible to take BITSAT Exam. BITSAT 2025 is expected to be conducted in June 2025 at 61 exam centers across the country and abroad.

The eligibility criteria to appear in BITSAT Exam is usually released by Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. For the exam being conducted in 2025, BITS Pilani will release the required minimum educational qualification in January or February 2025 on the official website of BITS i.e. bitsadmission.com. Candidates applying for BITSAT 2025 must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute. At any level of admission, if a candidate is not found eligible then he won't be allowed to sit through the admission procedure. Applicants would be suggested to go through the instructions thoroughly before registering themselves for the examination. The basic eligibility criteria consist of various aspects such as age limit, year of passing 12th class, marks obtained by class 12th, etc.

  • BITS has not defined any minimum or maximum age limit students must acquire before applying for the exam.
  • Students fulfilling other eligibility criteria can apply for the exam irrespective of their ages.

Qualifying examination

It is required for applicants to have passed 12th class examination or any equivalent examination from a recognized board.

Year of Qualifying examination

  • Students who qualified 12th class in 2024 and those who are appearing in 2025 are eligible to apply for the examination.
  • Those who qualified 2022 or 2023 and would be qualifying in 2026 are not eligible to apply for the examination.

Subjects in Qualifying examination

  • Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology based on the course they wish to pursue their career from.
  • They should also possess proficient knowledge of English language.

Percentage in qualifying examination

Candidates applying for the exam must have secured at least 75% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology with securing at least 60% marks in each of the subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.

Students of Birla Institute of Technology and Science

Students who are already studying in one of the campuses of BITS are not eligible to apply for the examination.

  • Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in senior secondary school.
  • For admission, they must have secured at least 75% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • They must also secure at least 60% marks in each of the above-mentioned subjects.
  • Candidates seeking admission to any of the first-year degree programs expect B. Pharm must have passed 12th class examination from a recognized board, be it central or state, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with an adequate knowledge of English language.

For B. Pharm (Hons.)

Candidates can check the eligibility criteria for the mentioned courses listed below.

  • Candidates seeking admission to B. Pharm must have passed 12th class examination from a recognized central or state board.
  • They must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidates must also secure at least 75% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Candidates must also obtain at least 60% marks in each of the above-mentioned subjects.

Direct Admission

The direct admission criteria varies for the BITSAT examination. Candidates can check the criteria listed below.

  • Students who achieve first rank in their respective board examinations are eligible for assured direct admission to the courses offered by different campuses of the institute.
  • Students who secure 1sr rank in central ad state board examinations conducted across the country for the year 2025 would be shortlisted for direct admission to the course of their choice irrespective of their BITSAT 2025 Score.

BITSAT Eligibility for International Registrants

The eligibility criteria for international registrants is mentioned below.

  • International candidates applying for BITSAT Exam must stand eligible as per the criteria set by the institute. They should possess a passport and a valid SAT score to be eligible to apply for BTSAT Exam 2025. Mentioned below are the eligibility criteria for international applicants:
  • International Registrants must appear in and qualify 12th class examination, Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), and SAT Subject Tests.
  • They must also request their college board to send SAT Score secured by them to BITS Pilani (DI Code: 7759- BITS Pilani).

The candidate should have minimum 75% or more in PCM/PCB in aggregate and minimum 60% or more in individual subjects (PCM/PCB) in 12th class. PCM means only the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. PCB means only the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Who is eligible for the BITSAT exam?

Only students who are appearing for the 12th standard examination in 2025 or have passed in 2022 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT 2025. Students who have passed their Class 12 examination in 2021 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT 2025.

Can I get BITS with 200 marks out of 390?

Before aiming for top scores, understand the minimum mark needed to be considered for admission. This score varies slightly each year but typically falls around 150-180 (for B. Pharma) & 200-220 for (Engineering and Science programs) out of 390.

Does BITS accept 12th marks?

Can I join BITS without BITSAT?
