Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, is the top-rated private institution in India. The institution was founded in 1964 by late Mr. G.D Birla, who was an eminent industrialist. In the initial state, the institute was a regional engineering college which was later transformed into a deemed university under the UGC Act of 1956. BITS has its campuses in three other places, and it is the first Indian institution to have an international campus.

Courses offered BITS Pilani:
BITS Pilani offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. BITS Pilani is exceptionally famous for integrated first degree in engineering. The institute offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) Honours in different branches like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Apart from B.E.(Hons.), BITS-Pilani offers an undergraduate honours degree in B.Pharma. BITS-Pilani offers higher degree courses like Master of Engineering (M.E.) in traditional areas of engineering, M.Pharm. and Master of Business Administration (MBA). BITS Pilani also offers an integrated B.Sc + M.Sc course of four years duration.
BITS Pilani Admission:
The BITS Pilani admissions to the integrated first-degree courses and higher degree courses are made through a computer based online test called BITSAT. BITS Pilani is the first institute in India to have conducted an online entrance test. CAT/GMAT score do the entrance to an MBA programme in BITS-Pilani. BITS-Pilani has a No-reservation policy in admissions.
About BITSAT:
BITSAT is conducted by the BITS-Pilani mainly for shortlisting students for the B.E (Hons.) course. It is a computer-based online exam in which the candidates have to sit in front of a computer at the exam center which is connected to a server. Unlike the pen-paper based which is conducted in a single day, BITSAT exam is conducted for a period, and the student has to choose a date of his/her choice and to appear for the exam on the selected date. The nature of the questions in BITSAT is in the form of multiple choices and is displayed on the screen of the computer. The candidate has to mark the right answer among the given options. There are total 150 questions of maximum 486 marks to be completed in total 3-hour duration without a break. Each correct answer marked by the candidate fetches +3 marks and each wrong answer marked by the candidate costs -1 mark. There is no marking for any skipped question by the candidate.
BITSAT Eligibility:
There are some eligibility criteria to appear for BITSAT exam

The student has to pass 10+2 board exam from a recognized central or state board or its equivalent with Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics subjects and with an adequate proficiency in the English language.

The student must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with an aggregate minimum percentage of 75% with at least minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects individually.

There are only two attempts available for the students to appear in the BITSAT exam and the attempts must be given just after completing 10+2 in the consecutive year.
BITSAT Application Form:
BITSAT online application forms are available in the month of January every year. The candidate can register online to fill the application form at the official website of BITS-Pilani. A candidate can also make changes in the application form anytime before submitting the form and before the final date of submitting the form is over by login into the account. The whole admission process ends in the month of June.
The mode of payment of fee is online, but the candidate can choose to pay the fee offline through Cash Challan made in favor of BITS-Pilani. The candidates can take the printout of the online application form and the payment receipt for future reference.
BITSAT Syllabus and Exam Pattern:
BITSAT exam pattern is based on 11th and 12th NCERT syllabus. Though a high level of questions asked in the exam, the candidate can take NCERT books as a base and can prepare accordingly. The online question paper is divided into four parts through which the questions are formed. The four parts consist of the following things-

Once the candidate has attempted all the 150 questions before the completion of time, the candidate is then given an option to attempt 12 extra in the remaining time left. BITSAT Cutoff and Result:
For different branches of engineering, there are different cutoffs. The students can check the branch wise cutoffs of BITSAT exam. The BITSAT exam results are declared in the month of July every year. The results can be checked on the official website of BITS-Pilani.
