The Common Admission Test (CAT), India's most prestigious MBA entrance exam, is likely to be held by IIM Kozhikode in 2025, according to predictions made by experts and the way the IIMs usually do things. Every year, different top IIMs are nominated for the exam, so this time, IIM Kozhikode is the next in line because it held exam last time in 2019.
If history repeats itself, candidates can expect CAT 2025 to be held on Sunday, November 30, the traditional last Sunday of the month. An official announcement is expected by the end of July, with the registration process likely to kick off in early August and run through mid-September.
So, what’s in store for this year’s aspirants?
The three components of the CAT exam—Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA)—will probably not change. Each section will consist of 68 questions that must be answered in 120 minutes. There will be a 40-minute time limit for each section, and the marking system will award right answers with +3 points and penalize wrong multiple-choice questions with -1. Non-MCQs won’t attract negative marking.
IIM Kozhikode’s past stint with CAT in 2019 was memorable for throwing a curveball in the form of a tougher DILR section. If that’s any indication, students this year should prepare for an analytical challenge.
Eligibility remains the same—a Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD). Final-year undergraduates are welcome to apply too.
Once the notification drops, candidates will need to head to the official site iimcat.ac.in to register, fill in academic details, upload documents, and pay the application fee—expected to be ₹2,500 for general and ₹1,250 for reserved categories.
In short, if you’re eyeing the IIM dream, it’s time to prep smart. Watch this space closely—CAT 2025 is about to roar.
