The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has begun the registrations for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026. It started from September 5, 2025 and will continue till October 12, 2025. The IIT JAM 2026 exam will be held on February 15, 2026. The examination will be held in two sessions, interested and eligible candidates can register on the official website of JAM 2026, jam2026.iitb.ac.in.
IIT JAM 2026 exam is for admission to various postgraduate programmes at IITs, IISc, NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET, and DIAT. The JAM 2026 will be conducted for seven subjects: Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH).

IIT JAM Eligibility 2026
The responsibility of deciding the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM rotates annually among the different IITs. IIT Bombay has laid down the eligibility criteria for the IIT JAM exam this year. IIT JAM eligibility criteria have been mentioned below -
- Nationality: Both Indian and Foreign nationals are eligible to take the exam.
- Age Limit: There is no age for IIT JAM 2026.
- Educational Qualifications: Must have a degree in Bachelor's in Science in any one of the following subjects – Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Physics, Chemistry. Final year candidates are also eligible to apply.
- Minimum Marks: No minimum marks requirement to apply for IIT JAM 2026. Proof of having passed the Qualifying Degree with the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) as specified by the Admitting Institute should be submitted by September 2025.
How to Fill IIT JAM Application Form 2026?
To register for the upcoming IIT JAM exam, the candidates need to visit the JOAPS portal launched by the conducting body. To fill the IIT JAM application form 2026, the following steps must be followed –
Step 1→ Register for IIT JAM @JOAPS 2026 portal
The first step to apply for the IIT JAM 2026 exam is to register for the IIT JAM exam. To register for the exam, the following steps need to be followed.
- Visit the official JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal – joaps.iitb.ac.in
- Enter details like your name, mobile number, email address, and other requested information
- A confirmation will be sent for successful registration
- Once registered, an email containing the enrolment ID will be shared
- Candidates must save their enrolment ID and password for future logins
Step 2 → Fill out the IIT JAM application form 2026
Once registered, the candidates will need to login with the enrolment ID and password to fill out the IIT JAM form. To fill the IIT JAM exam application, following details must be entered.
- Exam details: Here, candidates have to select one or two test papers for which they want to write the exam. However, in the case of two papers, candidates have to ensure that both exams are conducted in different sessions.
- Exam centre details: Here, candidates need to select cities where they want to take the test. They can select a maximum of three cities.
- Personal details: This section requires candidates to mention their name, date of birth, gender, category, parents’ names, etc.
- Correspondence address: Here, candidates have to mention the address where they would like to receive any future communication. The address needs to be mentioned with the pin code.
- Educational details: Here, candidates has to mention their educational qualification details such as the name of the qualifying degree, year of passing, college/ university name, marks obtained, etc.
- Photograph: Candidates had to upload (in JPEG format) their passport-size coloured photograph with a white/ very light colour background. The file size was to be between 5 KB and 200 KB. Selfie or informal photographs with sunglasses, hats or caps were not be accepted.
- Signature: Candidates have to upload the digital image of their signature made on A4 white paper in a rectangular box with a black or dark blue ink pen. The file size should be between 5 KB and 100 KB.
- Once all details are filled in, candidates can submit the form and proceed to the next step of the application process.
Step 3 → Payment of IIT JAM application fees
Once the details have been filled and the documents are uploaded, the next and final step is to pay the IIT JAM exam fees. The fee must be paid online through net banking, debit/credit card, or other UPI method.
After the form is submitted, a new window would open that would display the name and enrollment ID of the candidate. The window will also display the amount to be paid by the candidate as the application fee. After checking these details, candidates need to click on the 'Proceed to Payment' button.
After the payment is made, a dialogue box will appear to confirm that the application form has been received successfully. Candidates need to complete all the steps to successfully submit their IIT JAM 2026 application form.

How to fill IIT JAM 2026 Admission Form?
Once IIT JAM 2026 result is declared, candidates need to fill and submit an admission form. It is necessary to fill the IIT JAM 2026 admission form to take part in the counselling process. Candidates can fill out and submit the application form for the IIT JAM admission process as under:
- Visit the official website of IIT JAM.
- On the homepage of JOAPS, candidates need to enter their IIT JAM 2026 enrollment ID, password, and captcha code to log in.
- After this, candidates need to fill in their details, including, choice of courses and colleges in order of preference in the "Application form for Admission" available on the dashboard.
- Upload all the required documents or undertaking if some documents are not available.
