One of India's 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), IIT Delhi is regarded as a Center of Excellence for education, research, and development in the fields of science, engineering, and technology. With the help of the Federation of British Industries in London and the UK government, it was founded in 1961. It is situated in New Delhi, the nation's capital, and boasts a 325-acre campus. Vinod Khosla: Vinod Khosla earned a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1976. He subsequently continued on to earn his M.S. and MBA from Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University, respectively. In 1982, he helped form Sun Microsystems, a firm that later produced the Solaris operating system and the Java programming language. He left Sun in 1985 and started investing in venture capital firms, including Google, Twitter, Square, Airbnb, and Stripe. In 2004, he established Khosla Ventures, a business that specializes in the internet, biotechnology, and clean technology sectors. He also supports numerous social projects and is philanthropic.
Sachin Bansal: IIT Delhi awarded Sachin Bansal a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering in 2005. Before he and his college classmate Binny Bansal co-founded Flipkart in 2007, he worked as a software engineer at Techspan and Amazon. The largest e-commerce site in India is Flipkart, which was valued at over $20 billion in 2018. Up until 2018, when he sold a $1 billion share to Walmart, Sachin was the CEO and executive chairman of Flipkart. He later established Navi Technologies, a fintech business that provides online loan and banking services. He has backed firms including Ola, Ather Energy, Unacademy, and Udaan3 as an angel investor and businessman.
Kiran Bedi: IIT Delhi awarded Kiran Bedi a Ph.D. in 1993 for her research on drug usage and domestic abuse. She was the first female officer to join the Indian Police Service (IPS) when she enlisted in the organization in 1972. She is renowned for implementing community policing, prison reforms, traffic management, and anti-corruption tactics, among other policing innovations and changes. She has also participated in a number of social movements, including those led by Anna Hazare, the Navjyoti India Foundation, the India Vision Foundation, and the anti-corruption movement. She entered politics in 2015 and became a BJP member. From 2016 to 2021, she served as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Jayant Sinha: Jayant Sinha earned a B.Tech in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi in 1985. After that, he received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his M.S. from the University of Pennsylvania. Before entering politics in 2014, he worked as an investment banker and consultant for McKinsey & Company, Omidyar Network, and Courage Capital. He represents the Hazaribagh seat in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament, and is a member of the BJP. In the Narendra Modi administration, he has held the positions of Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Minister of State for Finance.
Padmasree Warrior: Padmasree Warrior earned a B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1982. Later, she graduated with an M.S. from Cornell University. In 1984, she began her career with Motorola as a research scientist. By 2003, she had advanced to the position of chief technology officer (CTO). She started off as the CTO and senior vice president of engineering for Cisco Systems in 2007, later rising to the position of chief technology and strategy officer (CTSO). She left Cisco in 2015 to work as the CEO of NIO USA for NextEV, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer. At the moment, she serves on the boards of Microsoft, Spotify, Gap Inc., and Cornershop.
