MLA Salary in India

It is very important to note that each state has a different pay structure for MLAs. To simplify, MLAs in Telangana and MLAs in Bihar don't get the same salary because the pay scale and salary structure depends upon the state. In Maharashtra, an MLA earns about Rs.1.82 lakh as their basic salary, while in Kerala, each legislator only gets ₹2,000. This shows a big difference in how much elected officials get paid in different states.

In Delhi, an MLA gets a basic salary of ₹30,000 each month. They also receive ₹25,000 for constituency expenses, ₹15,000 for secretarial help, and ₹10,000 for transportation and phone costs. So, that adds up to ₹90,000 each month. On top of that, they earn ₹1,500 as a daily allowance when they're in Delhi.

In Himachal Pradesh, an MLA gets a basic salary of Rs. 55,000. A Himachal MLA gets a constituency allowance of Rs. 90,000, office allowance of 30,000, computer data entry operator allowance of Rs.15,000, telephone allowance of Rs.15,000,  halting allowance of Rs.1800. 

While in Arunachala Pradesh, an MLA gets a composite salary of Rs. 1,20,000. 

In 2017, Meghalaya Assembly passed the bill to double MLAs' salaries. Assembly demanded a monthly salary of Rs 60,000 from the existing Rs 30,000.
