The Jawaharlal Nehru University constituted under the Jawaharlal Nehru University Act 1966, came into existence in 1969. It is one of the top universities in India. JNU has been accredited with a grade of ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university's objective is to take special measures to facilitate students and teachers from all over India to join the University and participate in its academic programs. The basic academic units of JNU are not single discipline departments but are multi-discipline Schools of study. Some Schools are made up of a number of Centres which constitute the operating within the framework of a School. It has 13 Schools and 8 Special Centers at present. The courses offered at the university are a part of these Schools and the Special Center of Education. At JNU the students are admitted to the M.Sc. (Computational & Integrative Sciences) program each year on the basis of their performance in the nationwide entrance tests conducted by GAT-B and/or JNU as per the DBT and university rules. The Jawaharlal Nehru University offers admission for the MBA course on the basis of the CAT percentile of the candidates. Each applicant applying for admission to the MBA course must submit his/her CAT Registration Number and CAT Score. JNU will use the CAT score for short-listing the applicants for GD and PI for the MBA course. The final list of selected candidates will be based on the CAT score and marks obtained in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview with respective weightage as 70%, 10%, and 20% of the CAT score.

| MBA (Master of Business Administration) | Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate and must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. For General Category, OBC, and EWS candidates, a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or an equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree is required. For SC/ST/PWD candidates, a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree is required. |
JNU offers admission to a few courses that are admitted on a merit basis on their performance in the Computer-Based Test (CBT). These tests are also known as JNUEE or JNU Entrance Exam. Candidates should note that there are no viva voice examinations held for admission to these courses. Jawaharlal Nehru University offers admission to Ph.D. courses through CBT-based entrance exams. JNU offers admission to Ph.D. courses to JRF holders or to GATE holders in the School of Engineering. If there is bunching in the JRF and GATE categories merit shall be drawn according to the marks obtained in the qualifying Post-Graduate degree, and for a further tie, the higher marks obtained by the candidate (s) in the graduate degree shall be considered. In case of any further tie, the marks secured by the candidate(s) in the 10+2 examination shall be the basis for determining merit.

| Computer Science and Engineering – CSEH, Electronics and Communication Engineering - ECEH | Candidates will be given admission to the Ph.D. courses who have: a) Obtained M.Tech./M.E. degree in the area related to Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Software Engineering. b) The candidate must have secured a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 on the scale of 10 (or minimum 70 % marks) or equivalent at both B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. in the areas mentioned in point (a) above. c) The candidate should have qualified GATE during the last 5 years. d) The candidate should be less than 30 years of age as of the date of admission to the respective university. However, an age relaxation of 5 years would be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST, women, and physically challenged categories. The Jawaharlal Nehru University offers admission to their Ph.D. courses through their entrance examination as well. JNU offers admission to various Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). However not all courses come under CUET and accepts different entrance exams as well.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University accepts the JEE Mains scores for admission to it's courses such as B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSEE), and B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECEE).
