The Time and Work topic has a fairly significant weightage in the overall Quantitative Aptitude section of the CAT examination. At 7:30 Mr. Shah, the traffic controller at Baroda realises that both the trains are running on the same track. How much time does he have to avert a head-on collision between the two trains?

A person can complete a job in 120 days. He works alone on Day 1. On Day 2, he is joined by another person who also can complete the job in exactly 120 days. On Day 3, they are joined by another person of equal efficiency. Like this, everyday a new person with the same efficiency joins the work. How many days are required to complete the job?

A tank has an inlet pipe and an outlet pipe. If the outlet pipe is closed then the inlet pipe fills the empty tank in 8 hours. If the outlet pipe is open then the inlet pipe fills the empty tank in 10 hours. If only the outlet pipe is open then in how many hours the full tank becomes half-full?

Raj alone can work in 12 days. Aryan alone can do the same work in 16 days. They work together for 4 days, and then Aryan leaves. How many more days will Raj take to complete the remaining work?

A man can do a job in 10 days. Every day he doubles his previous day’s work. In how many days will he finish the job?

12 men can complete a task in 18 days. After working for 6 days, 6 more men joined. How many more days will they take to complete the work?

A job is to be completed in 50 days by 10 workers. After 20 days, only 25% of the work is completed. How many more workers are needed to finish the job on time?
