If a student is among the top 20% of his/her class (section) in terms of CGPA for a particular academic year, then he/she will get a tuition fee waiver of 25% for the next academic year of study.
If a student secures a CGPA of 7.5 and above for a particular year, then he/she would receive cash prize money as a distinction award.
This scholarship is awarded to those students who secure a CGPA of 9.0 and above for a particular academic year of study.
Bi-Annual Merit Scholarship Award Ceremony
Bi-annual merit scholarship award ceremony was held at PES University. A total of 1322 meritorious students chosen from the student body of 6834 were honored with Prof. CNR Rao and Prof. MRD merit scholarship totaling about Rs. three crores.
The event was graced by Sri. Ananth Kumar ji, Honorable Union Minister – Parliamentary Affairs, Chemicals, and Fertilizers – Government of India as chief guest. Dr. M R Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University presided over the function.
Addressing the audience, chief guest congratulated all the awardees and said that “I am overwhelmed to be in the company of such young and bright minds”. He appreciated Dr. M R Doreswamy for his untiring efforts in recognizing meritorious students on campus and said that “I feel this is the only University that is recognizing meritorious students in such large number”. He also narrated the reason behind scholarship as said by Chancellor of PES University “Eminent Personalities including Sir C V Raman to Dr. Abdul Kalam could achieve milestones through the scholarship. This scholarship is a factor of inspiration and motivation”.
Delivering the presidential remarks, Dr. M R Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University congratulated all the scholarship awardees. Further, he also applauded the efforts of parents and teachers for this success. He advised the youth to keep Prof. CNR Rao as their role model and achieve bigger recognition”. He said that it is a proud moment for all of us as “PES University was declared as a best young university in the state of Karnataka as per the survey of Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSURF)”.
