The Supreme Court hearing for the NEET PG examination has again been postponed. The original hearing was supposed to be on 26th September. However, the Supreme Court has given the National Board of Education for Medical Sciences two weeks further to submit their response.
The response by the NBEMS will be heard by the court on priority. The issue comes off the back of a lack of transparency and accountability of the board as raised by students, in particular with regards to the answer key release of the NEET PG 2025 examination.
What is the NEET PG Supreme Court Case?
Earlier this year, several students filed a petition against the NBEMS for their practices with regards to the NEET UG and PG examinations. This came after the board had promised to release the answer key for the NEET PG exam but later backtracked to not release the answer key as well as only provide question IDs instead. The release of question IDs made students believe that the release of the answer key was merely a formality and the board had provided no means of intelligible verification.
This came after the building of frustrations against the board for their overall lack of transparency. These ambiguous practices as well as others acts such as the changing of exam patterns at the last moment without warning have further frustrated students.
Furthermore, arguments were also raised that the board’s refusal to release the question paper for the exam violated Article 14 and Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
NEET PG 2025 Counselling Dates
Earlier this month, the NEET PG AIQ 50% merit list was released. Only those students who appeared on the merit list will be allowed to take part in the counselling process for the NEET PG examination. However, as of yet, the MCC has not released the official counselling dates for the NEET PG exam. Students are recommended to keep themselves updated through the official MCC website atmcc.nic.in.
