SNAP 2018 Preparation Tips

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test or SNAP is a national level annual exam conducted by Symbiosis International University for admissions in its various management programmes offered at its constituent colleges like SIBM and SCMHRD. If we announce SNAP as one of the most popular exams of the country after CAT it won't be wrong.

Every year more than 50,000 students take the SNAP Exam and they are evaluated in terms of their performance in the examination. The paper is divided into the total of 4 segments:

  • General English
  • Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency
  • Analytical & Logical Reasoning
  • General Awareness

Aspirants need to focus on each segment specifically and knowing the exam pattern and marking schemes really help to give a guided path to the preparation.

Section wise preparation tips for SNAP:

General English:

Compare to other sections of the exam this particular section can be categorized under the easy section intended to test abilities like verbal reasoning, vocabulary, and grammar. The questions include vocabulary, grammar, and short RC passages questions.

Evaluating questions from the last couple of years it is observed that only 4 to 6 were RC questions most of the questions were vocabulary based and that's why candidates are advised to work on their vocabularies by learning new words.

Preparation Tips:

  • Candidates can make a daily routine of reading a newspaper focusing more on the editorial sections.
  • Involve magazines and journals in your reading habits.
  • Try to learn new words daily with their meaning and the various ways that word can be used.

Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency:

This particular section carries arithmetic based questions and the key to score well in the particular section is to clear the basic concepts and turn that into your strength. The questions in this particular section takes more time than other sections, so candidate should practice the questions and develop short tricks to resolve the questions in less time.

Preparation Tips:

  • Revise High School Math questions to clear the concepts.
  • Learn quick tips from the internet to tackle a particular formula.
  • Identifying weak areas and taking mock test accordingly.

Analytical & Logical Reasoning:

This particular section has 40 questions and is the most scoring one compare to the other 3 section. The areas questions are asked from are critical reasoning, deductive logic, logical reasoning sets, analogies, series, visual reasoning, blood relations, arrangements, and puzzles.

Preparation Tips:

  • Take an online mock test on analytical and logical reasoning.
  • Books are also available for the sections, read more books on the same.

 General Awareness:

This particular section covers a wide area of questions from general awareness and includes topics from Current affairs, General Knowledge, Brand and Business, Sports events and winners, awards and winners and other such topics.

Preparation Tips:

  • Candidate can read daily newspapers to be updated with what's going around the world.
  • Read quiz books available in the market.
  • Take daily online quizzes and watch quiz shows.

Time Management is the Key:

One of the common issue faced by students is not being able to cover all the topics from each sections resulting in affecting their overall score. Candidate needs to understand that all the sections are equally important while preparing for the same and a study plan should be divided accordingly to cover maximum topics. Give more time on your weak points.

Take mock tests:

To know the exam pattern and the time being taken by you to in each section is to take the SNAP Mock Tests available on various websites online. Make a regular practice to take a mock test and evaluate your growth to prepare in the right direction.

Eat up the full syllabus:

SNAP Syllabus need to be the 1st priority for the aspirants in order to know the topics which need to be covered and also planning of the same. The candidate has to go through the complete syllabus listing down the topics into various categories of high to moderate importance.

Don't overburdened:

Candidate should understand that understanding a new topic at the last moment of the exam is not a smart choice instead revising the old topics will be. Keep a track of what topics have already covered and revised them.

SNAP 2018 Exam Pattern

The question paper of SNAP 2018 an online test comprises of normal and special questions. From the year 2018 few changes in exam pattern have been introduced by the conducting body and from this year onwards SNAP exam pattern will be same as of CAT. The question paper will not only consist of multiple choice questions but also questions which need to be answered by writing in the virtual keyboard appearing with these special types of questions.
