SNAP Selection Procedure

SNAP Selection Procedure is a set of two steps wherein the students are chosen based on their performance in the entrance examination taken by SIU. The selection procedure simply includes shortlisting candidates based on the marks obtained by them in SNAP examination. The procedure takes place in all the 15 institutes of Symbiosis International University.

The list of shortlisted candidates is announced on the official website of the institutes as per the scheduled dates and students must not expect an individual letter to be sent to them who are not called for GE-PI. The entire selection process is held at institute campuses only.

The selection procedure consists of Group Exercise, Personal Interview, and Written Ability Test (GE-PIWAT)

Step 1 → SNAP Exam

First step for admission to SIU is qualifying the examination conducted by the university. The exam conducted by the university is Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP).

  • Admission to all the Symbiosis Postgraduate Institutes takes place through the common written test SNAP.
  • Candidates willing to apply must visit the official website of the university i.e. http://www.snaptest.org and register themselves for further process of application.

Step 2 → Group Exercise

The second step after giving the SNAP exam is to appear for the Group Exercise or also referred to as Group Discussion (GD).

  • Group Exercise round is conducted to analyze students' skills. These skills include communication skills, their abilities to solve problems, and their determination and will to complete a task given to them.
  • The students are segregated in different groups and given a topic to discuss amongst themselves.
  • Besides, each group is given two case studies and based on students' presentation in Group Exercise, the students are shortlisted to appear in Personal Interview round.

Step 3 → Personal Interview

The last step is to appear for the personal interview. The only purpose to conduct this round is to analyze students' ability to respond to questions asked. The students are examined based on their communication skills, interpersonal skills, and confidence.

Written Ability Test (Scrapped)

In this round, the students were required to appear in a pen-paper based test wherein they were given a topic to write upon. This round was to examine candidates' writing skills, grammar knowledge, and vocabulary. It also ensured students' consistency and time management. The round was eliminated in 2024 and for SNAP 2024 only GE-PI were conducted

SNAP Selection Process: Final Merit List and Parameters + Weightage

SNAP final merit list of selected candidates is prepared on the basis of their performance in each selection round. Candidates are marked in each round and a composite score is derived for each one of them. The offer of admission is sent according to the final score. Check the table below for parameters and weightage of each SNAP selection round.

Note* owing to the elimination of WAT round, the PI weightage was increased and the WAT weightage (10) was merged with PI only.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SNAP selection process for MBA admission?

The SNAP selection process has two main parts: the SNAP entrance test and the GE-PI rounds. First, candidates take the SNAP exam. Based on their scores, they are shortlisted for the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. After these, a final merit list is prepared. This entire procedure is conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) for MBA admissions.

Is the Written Ability Test (WAT) still included in SNAP selection?

No, the Written Ability Test (WAT) is not part of the SNAP selection anymore. It was removed from SNAP 2024. For SNAP 2025, after your SNAP exam, you will only have Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The weightage of WAT has now been combined with the PI round.

What skills are assessed during the SNAP Group Exercise (GE) round?

The SNAP Group Exercise (GE) round assesses important skills like communication, problem-solving abilities, and determination to complete tasks. You will be placed in groups to discuss a given topic and present on two case studies. Your performance in GE helps determine if you are shortlisted for the Personal Interview round.

How does the Personal Interview (PI) work in SNAP selection?

The Personal Interview (PI) is the final step in SNAP selection. Its main goal is to assess your ability to respond to questions. Interviewers look for your communication skills, interpersonal skills, and confidence. This round helps determine your overall suitability for the MBA programs offered by Symbiosis institutes.

How is the final merit list calculated for SNAP MBA admission?

The final merit list for SNAP MBA admission is based on a composite score from all selection rounds. Your SNAP exam score contributes 50% weightage, Group Exercise (GE) counts for 10%, and the Personal Interview (PI) has a significant 40% weightage. An offer of admission is then sent according to this total score.

When is the SNAP 2025 exam and has registration started?

The SNAP 2025 exam is scheduled for December 6, 14, and 21, 2025. Yes, registration for the exam has already begun. It is mandatory to register for SNAP 2025 if you wish to apply to SIBM Pune or other SIU institutes for an MBA, as they do not accept scores from any other entrance exams.

What are the expected SNAP 2025 cutoffs for top MBA colleges?

For top MBA colleges under SNAP, the expected 2025 cutoffs are quite high. SIBM Pune might require 96-98 percentile, while SCMHRD Pune could be 95-97. For SIIB Pune, it is estimated to be 92-94. Remember, these are only expected figures based on previous years and the actual cutoffs may change.
