MAT 2020 Syllabus

Candidates willing to take MAT 2020 Exam must understand the type of questions asked during the examination. Since the conducting authority of MAT Exam i.e. All Indian Management Association (AIMA) does not specify or release a certain syllabus that can be considered to prepare for the exam, an idea of what type of questions and topics a student must practice can be carried out.

As per the notification released by AIMA, the examination is scheduled to be conducted on 2nd February 2020 and 16th February 2020 for Computer Based and Paper Based Test respectively.

  • A huge number of applications have been received so far and this number is expected to increase in the coming future.
  • MAT Syllabus 2020 will help students study accordingly and plan their activities before the exam is held.

Paper Based Test of MAT 2020 is scheduled to be conducted on 16th February 2020.

MAT 2019

As we know, the question paper of MAT Exam is divided in following five sections:


Mathematical Skills

Language Comprehension

Data Analysis & Sufficiency

Intelligence & Critical Reasoning

Indian and Global Environment

The number of questions asked in these five sections contribute to a total of 200 questions to be completed in 150 minutes.

Since the exam is all scheduled to be conducted in February 2020, the candidates can check MAT Exam Pattern to understand what is the total number of questions asked in the exam and what type of questions are asked in the exam. 

Detailed Description of MAT Syllabus

The question paper is designed to check and analyze candidates' ability to solve questions and how quickly they manage to solve them.

Language Comprehension

This section generally analyzes students' knowledge of English language and Grammar. It is one of the important sections of the examination and is divided in two parts namely:

  1. Reading Comprehension
  2. Verbal Ability

Candidates willing to qualify the exam must possess good command over English language. The topics covered under language comprehension include Vocabulary, Sentence Correction, Synonym, Antonyms, etc.

This section is designed to analyze students' ability to solve mathematical questions in the allotted time. There are various topics of Mathematics subject ranging from Arithmetic to Advanced Mathematics. The question paper is expected to contain questions majorly from the Arithmetic section.

This section generally consists of questions where in the student is provided with some data and they are expected to answer the given questions based on the information they are able to retrieve from the given data.

  • This given information could be in the form of graphs, charts, and the other data sets. Candidates should be able to find the logic behind this given information.

Although there is not much to study in this section, but it holds importance due to the number of questions asked and weightage of marks these questions carry. The questions asked in this question are tricky and might take longer than expected to be solved.
