Admission in Tumkur University is mainly on merit bases for almost all the courses, Entrance exams and interview rounds are there for courses like MBA, PhD, MPhil and more. While for courses like M.Sc., B.Sc., MA, BCA and almost all the courses are based on merit in Tumkur University, but for admission in MBA and MCA it is done by Karnataka Examination Authority, so you have to give the entrance exam - PGCET Karnataka organized by KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority). If you make it to the cut off list, students have to go through PGCET Counselling before they get admission in Tumkur University
Weirdly, Tumkur University’s Admission process is mostly offline. They still don’t accept online applications. You need to send an envelop to the Registrar of Tumkur University to receive the application form for both UG and PG courses, though application form for MBA and MCA are available online to download. Here’s a step by step process to help you apply in Tumkur University.
Tumkur University Admission Process
- Once you have received the application form from the registrar, fill the form with the required details
- If you are applying for a UG course, send the application form with required documents and application fee to the UG department of Tumkur University
- If you are applying for PG course, except MBA and MCA, send the form + documents + application fee to the concerned chairperson of PG department
- For MBA and MCA you need to send all of those to this address - Nodal Officer, Rani Channamma University Vidya Sangam, PBNH – 4, Belagavi – 591156
- The application fee of INR 250 for UG courses, INR 350 for PG courses and INR 800 for MBA and MCA should be sent along with the application form

To sum up the selection criteria of Tumkur University, you need at least 50% in 12th grade (or equivalent qualification) for any UG course to be eligible and based on the merit the admission will proceed further. For PG, 55% of aggregated marks in relevant degree is required for Admission in Tumkur University. The only exception are MCA and MBA for which they conduct PGCET entrance exam.
