IIT Madras invites online applications for BS in Medical Sciences and Chemistry: Last date is May 23.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has invited applications for admission to (i) B.S. (Medical Sciences & Engineering) and (ii) B.S. (Chemistry)
Department of Medical Sciences and Technology BS Medical Sciences & Engineering is an interdisciplinary program which combines Medicine & Engineering. The program design incorporates an internship in a hospital to relate practice to theory. In this program, students can specialize in one or several of the following disciplines: Organ-specific Device Development, Artificial Intelligence for Health; Medical Image Analysis; Quantitative Pharmacology; Drug Design and Deployment; Translational Research in Medicine and Regulatory Processes, Fundamental Physiological Sciences.
The B.S. (Chemistry) is a 4-year undergraduate program with an upgradation facility to M.S. in Chemistry from the academic session 2025-26. The program aims to provide students with a strong foundation in Chemistry and allied Science courses, with the synthesis of theoretical knowledge and laboratory experience to make them eligible for a career in industry, research, and academics. The Program offers an opportunity to take a minor degree along with B.S. or M.S. (e.g. B.S.Chemistry with Data Science); undertake project work in allied science and engineering departments of IIT Madras; opportunity to work with other Institutes and universities on MS projects etc.
Eligibility for BS programs in Engineering and/or Chemistry and Medical Sciences
- Applicants should be Indian nationals or OCI/PIO card holders whose OCI/PIO card was issued before 04.03.2021.
- Candidates must have passed Class XII/equivalent exam in the year 2023, 2024 or 2025 with science stream from one of the boards which are recognized by Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) of India. Candidates must have Mathematics as one subject and any two of the three subjects that is Biology, Chemistry and Physics as subjects in Class XII/equivalent exam for B.S. program in Medical Sciences & Engineering. Candidates must have Chemistry as a subject and two of the subjects namely Biology, Mathematics, or Physics in his/her Class XII/equivalent) exam for B.S. programme in Chemistry admission.
- Candidates must have secured minimum 60% marks in aggregate (55% marks for SC/ST/PWD)/equivalent grade in Class XII/equivalent) exam. Candidates whose results of Class XII/equivalent exam are yet to be declared may also apply provisionally.
- Applicants must have qualified in IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025.

Processing fee for the application is Rs.500/-(Rs.250/- in case of SC/ST/PWD/Transgender/Female applicants).
Eligibility requirement for admission
- Admission will be on (i) rank of the candidate in IAT (ii) number of seats available in the BS program of choice of the candidate and (iii) category to which the candidate will be admitted.
- Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF): SAF shall be paid only after the offer of admission. SAF is Rs. 30,000/- (Rs. 15,000/- for SC/ST/PwD categories). The SAF consisted of non-refundable processing charges of Rs. 5000/-
- Failure to pay the SAF within the specified time will result in cancellation of admission. The candidate will also not be eligible in subsequent rounds of seat allotment.
- In case the candidate is admitted to IIT Madras, the value of the SAF after deducting the processing fee of Rs. 5000/- will be credited towards the first semester fee.
