In a proud and memorable moment, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) recently held a special convocation ceremony for the 2023-24 batch of its Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Business Analytics (PGD-ABA) program. A total of 70 students graduated this year, marking the successful completion of the institute’s 16-month intensive program designed for working professionals.
The ceremony was presided over by Ashank Desai, founder and chairman of Mastek and an IIMA alumnus. He joined Director Professor Bharat Bhasker, members of the Board of Governors, and IIMA faculty to award the diplomas. The event celebrated not just the academic accomplishments of the students but also their bright future in business analytics. Launched to meet the rising demand for data-literate leaders, the PGD-ABA program combines on-campus sessions, online learning, and hands-on projects. It teaches the students the right tools to use to solve complex business problems using data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
This year’s graduating class included students from many different fields, like IT, banking and finance, consulting, manufacturing, e-commerce, and energy. Their different backgrounds brought a valuable mix of perspectives to the classroom and which helped these future business minds in learning valuable skills like teamwork.
Speaking at the convocation, Professor Bhasker highlighted the growing connection of data in decision-making. “The ability to translate data into meaningful business insights is what sets great leaders apart today,” he said. He pointed out the importance of analytical thinking in modern leadership roles and praised the students for embracing this challenge.
As we know that data is shaping our present and molding our world into something wonderful, the PGD-ABA program is bridging the distance between technical expertise and strategic business leadership, something IIMA aims to teach every graduate.
This convocation not only celebrated academic achievements but also underscored the pivotal role of data-driven leadership in shaping the future of business.
