CUET PG 2025 How is Score Calculated?
There are 75 multiple-choice questions in the CUET PG 2025 test altogether.
- A right answer is awarded +4 marks.
- A wrong answer is charged with a 1-mark penalty.
- No answer to questions receives 0 marks (addition or no deduction).
- Maximum total marks are 300 (75 × 4).
- Formula for Calculation of Score:
Raw Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) – (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)
Example:
If you have 60 correct and 10 wrong answers:
- Correct = 60 × 4 = 240
- Wrong = 10 × 1 = 10
- Final Score = 240 – 10 = 230 marks
Then, if the tests are given in more than one shift, NTA uses a normalization process to adjust for any variation in difficulty.
UET PG Normalization Process 2025
- As the CUET PG 2025 test is held in different shifts with different levels of difficulty, the NTA applies a normalisation process to maintain fairness.
- The process standardized the raw scores according to the relative difficulty of the shift and transformed them into percentile scores.
- Normalization ensures that no one candidate is put at a disadvantage if their shift contains a more difficult set of questions.
- It compares candidate performance between sessions to develop a common scoring scale.
- The percentile score shows the percentage of candidates who have scored below a given candidate.
- Admissions and merit lists are therefore prepared on the basis of such normalized percentile scores, not on the raw marks.
- Candidates with the same percentile can still be ranked according to tie-breaking rules defined by the participating universities.
UET PG Cut Off 2025
- After declaration of results, individual cut-off marks of the universities are announced by the participating universities.
- Cut-offs vary with the course, candidate category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS), and admission policy of the university.
- Cut-offs are influenced by exam difficulty level, number of candidates who applied, seats available, and previous year trends.
- There may be increased cut-offs announced by certain premier institutions for high-demand courses because of increased competition.
- Candidates with equal to or more than the cut-off marks will be eligible to participate in the counselling and admission process.
CUET 2025 PG Counselling
- The CUET PG 2025 counselling process will begin in June 2025, shortly after the results announcement.
- Each of the involved universities will conduct its own counselling individually, according to its own schedule and regulations.
- The process would traditionally comprise online registration, document upload as required, payment of counselling fees, and course choice filling.
- After verification of documents, universities will release merit lists based on candidates' CUET PG scores and preference.
- Seat allocation will be done in different rounds based on seat availability, and candidates must ensure admission by paying fees as necessary.
