As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to rise, the Chandigarh Administration has taken a major precautionary step: all schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, will remain closed till May 10. Schools located near the Air Force Station and the airport have been asked to shut with immediate effect.
Principals have been issued instructions to ask parents to personally pick up their children from school premises. The decision comes in the wake of a tense night, during which Pakistan reportedly attempted drone and missile strikes targeting 15 Indian cities, including Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, and Pathankot.
Thankfully, Indian defense systems intercepted the attacks, and in retaliation, Indian forces launched a counter-operation that reportedly took down Pakistan’s radar and defense installations.
While there’s no direct threat to Chandigarh right now, the administration is not taking any chances. Residents have been asked to stay calm, follow only official updates, and avoid unnecessary panic.
Further announcements are expected in the coming days as the situation unfolds.
