Beneficiary Students 

Students from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh who finish Class 12 or a similar exam can get into government colleges or other chosen colleges outside their areas. This is done through the AICTE counseling process under a special quota set by the government, but this doesn’t apply to medical courses.

Eligibility 

To be eligible, the applicant needs to have completed their Class 12 exam from schools that are affiliated with JKBOSE or CBSE in the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. 

Income Criteria 

The family's annual income shouldn't go over ₹8,00,000 in a year

Fresh Scholarships Available Per Year

Each year, there are 5,000 new scholarships up for grabs. 

  • 2,070 for General Degree Courses
  • 2,830 for Professional/Engineering courses
  • 100 for Medical Courses.

Important Note

  1. Maintenance Allowance: You can get up to ₹1,00,000 a year, paid in ten equal parts. This amount is to help with costs like hostel stay, meals, books, stationery, and other expenses.
  2. Eligibility for Maintenance: This is only for new students who joined in the 2022–23 academic year, starting when they physically join the institute.
  3. Flexibility Clause: The number of scholarships available for Engineering and Medical fields can vary but is capped at 5,000 new scholarships each year.
  4. Reallocation Rule: If there are any unspent funds from general degree seats, they can be moved to support scholarships for Professional or Medical fields.

Disbursement of PMSSS Scholarship

The scholarship disbursement rules and important details are tabulated below:

Fee Reimbursement Condition

Reimbursed fee must be within the upper ceiling for each stream (see below). Institutes cannot charge extra from students if fee exceeds ceiling.

Maintenance Disbursement (1st Year)

• ₹20,000/- (1st installment) 

• ₹10,000/- per month for next 8 months (total 9 installments)

Maintenance Disbursement (2nd Year Onward)

₹10,000/- per month for 10 months (total ₹1,00,000)

Note

Institutes must not charge students beyond the ceiling. AICTE will not reimburse any excess fee.

Scholarship Duration 

  • The scholarships given under this program can be renewed each year as long as students behave well and keep up their attendance according to their school's rules. 
  • If a student doesn't move up to the next grade, they can still get the scholarship the following year. 
  • But if they fail again, they'll lose the scholarship and won’t get it in the years after. 
  • If a student misses the annual exam due to illness or something unexpected, they can renew the scholarship for the next year if they provide a medical certificate and proof to the school head, who will check everything. 
  • Just a heads up, the scholarship won’t be given for the same year twice.

PMSSS Scholarship Eligibility

Passed the 12th examination from JKBOSE or CBSE-affiliated schools located in UTs of J&K and Ladakh.

Lateral Entry Scheme  requirement 

To get into the Lateral Entry Scheme, applicants need to have a Diploma in Engineering from a Polytechnic Institute that's recognized by the DTE in J&K and Ladakh. Getting in through the Lateral Entry Scheme depends on the number of seats available from the previous year in the Engineering Stream.

A merit list will be made for HSC and Lateral Entry students, and it will be posted on the AICTE portal. This is for online counseling to finalize seat assignments in colleges for candidates who qualify, based on their preferences and available scholarships.

How To Apply for PMSSS Process (Online)?

 Application process is mentioned below:

Step 1: Go to the https://www.aicte-india.org/bureaus/jk/2021-2022

Step 2: Click on the "PMSSS 2021-22 Registration" tab.

Step 3: On the left, click on the tab ‘Diploma Registration (2022-23)’.

Step 4: Fill in the mandatory fields: Candidate's Name as per 12th Registration, Father’s Name as per 12th Registration, Mother’s Name as per 12th Registration, 12th Roll Number, Year of Passing, Board (JKBOSE or CBSE), Family Annual Income (0–8,00,000; 8,00,001–Above)

  • Is Domicile of J&K or Ladakh? (Yes/No)
  • Registered for CUET? (Yes/No); If Yes, CUET Registration Number
  • Registered for NEET? (Yes/No); If Yes, NEET Registration Number
  • Registered for JEE? (Yes/No); If Yes, JEE Registration Number

  • Email ID
  • Password (should contain at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one number, and one special character)

Step 5: Click on "Register". You will receive an email with a link to continue the registration. Click on that link.

Step 6: Visit https://aicte-jk-scholarship-gov.in/. Sign in using your Email ID or Candidate ID and Password.

Step 7: Provide the following details:

  • Personal Details

  • Family & Income Details
  • Education Details
  • Attachments

Step 8: Upload the mandatory documents. Click on "Save & Upload", then click "Next".

Step 9: Click on the "Submit Application" tab, complete all mandatory fields, and finally click on "Submit Application".

I submitted my application. Do I need to get my documents verified at the Facilitation Centre?

Yes, you need to get your documents verified at the Facilitation Centre set up by the J&K and Ladakh Government. If you don't, you won't be eligible for the scholarship, and you won't be able to fill out your choices.

What is the PMSSS Scholarship and who is eligible?
