Mumbai has been witnessing torrential rainfall since Sunday night, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert for extremely heavy rain across Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and surrounding districts. On Tuesday, 19 August 2025, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officially declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Mumbai city and suburbs due to safety concerns.
