At the University of Delhi in India, there is a prestigious college for women called Miranda House. Sir Maurice Gwyer, the university's vice-chancellor at the time, founded it in 1948. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked it as India's top college for seven years in a row and it provides courses in the arts, sciences, and business.

 

The academic prowess, ethnic variety, and social activism of Miranda House are well-known. The campus and buildings at Miranda House are renowned for their magnificent designs. It is built of red bricks on the university grounds and has a style similar to other colonial educational institutions in the country. The initial design was produced by architect Walter Sykes George and has since been expanded. The college hostel, one of the university's first residence halls, can house 250 students. The college has a number of recreational facilities, a fully equipped library, a computer lab, a radio station, a botanical garden, and more.
