Maharashtra Board SSC Syllabus 2025-26 is set by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The board has designed the latest syllabus for each subject to provide overall knowledge to students. The Maharashtra Board SSC syllabus includes five main subjects. All of you will have to study Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Hindi, and English. Mathematics and Science will be divided into a theory exam of 40 marks, internal assessment of 40 marks and a practical exam of 20 marks. The language subjects including English and Hindi will be conducted for 80 marks and 20 marks will be reserved for internal assessment/practical exam. Social Science will be further divided into two parts. History and Political Science exam will be conducted for 60 marks and Geography exam will be conducted for 40 marks. 1. गद्य (Prose)

Selection of prose passages from the prescribed textbook

Understand main ideas, themes, character sketches, moral or message; ability to answer questions based on comprehension, inference, vocabulary, and grammar–in-context. Pay attention to reading, analysis of passages, and textual vocabulary.

2. पद्य (Poetry)

Poems from the prescribed collection

Students should focus on poetic devices (imagery, metaphor, simile, personification, rhyme, rhythm), theme and tone; ability to interpret poem, explain lines, and relate to the overall poem. Also vocabulary in context.

3. स्थूलवाचन / पूरक पठन (Supplementary Reading / Supplementary Texts)

Additional short prose/passage(s) outside the main textbook

Helps in exposure to new styles, reading fluency; tests reading comprehension, speed, clarity, and inference. These sections may include unseen or less familiar texts.

Moderate weight, included in comprehension / reading section

4. व्याकरण (Grammar)

Revision of grammatical rules as per earlier standards; advanced application in class 10 level

Topics include: types of sentences (simple, compound, complex), principal/co-ordinate/subordinate clauses; all tenses (present, past, future in various forms); usage of articles (a / an / the) in more advanced contexts; prepositions; voice (active/passive); reported speech (statements, questions, commands, exclamations); tag questions; transformation of sentences; punctuation; word forms (nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs); non-finite forms like infinitives, participles, gerunds. Focus on accuracy, error correction, and application in composition.

5. रचना विभाग (Composition / Writing)

Creative / application-oriented writing tasks

This can include letter writing (formal/informal), essay writing, descriptive and narrative writing, dialogues, story writing, maybe report writing or article writing depending on the textbook; ability to structure writing, coherence, style, grammar, vocabulary, clarity of expression.

Usually around 25% of marks

6. प्रयोजनमूलक हिंदी (Functional / Practical Hindi)

Tasks requiring use of Hindi for real-life purposes or practical contexts

Could include writing notices, announcements, advertisements, slogans, or writing in situational contexts (e.g. invitation, apology, request); also may test ability to adapt style to purpose (formal/informal).

Probably combined with writing or functional writing component; moderate weight

7. सम्भाषण कौशल (Oral / Spoken Skills)

Oral communication skills including speaking, conversations, recitation, reading aloud, possibly debates / speeches in class

Tests pronunciation, fluency, clarity, confidence; ability to express thoughts orally in Hindi; listening comprehension may also be involved. Helps in building speaking and listening competence.

Usually a separate internal assessment component (e.g. 20% or so of total)

Step 1: Browse the official website of the board – www.mahahsscboard.in.

Step 2: On the top of the home page, find and click on the option "Subjects & Syllabus".

Step 3: From the drop-down options, click on ‘SSC General Subject Codes and Syllabus’.

Step 4: A new window will open on your screen where you can see a table containing subject-wise syllabus links.

Step 5: Download the SSC Hindi syllabus and save it for future use.
