Maharashtra Board SSC Syllabus 2025-26 is set by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The board has designed the latest syllabus for each subject to provide overall knowledge to students. The Maharashtra Board SSC syllabus includes five main subjects. All of you will have to study Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Hindi, and English. Mathematics and Science will be divided into a theory exam of 40 marks, internal assessment of 40 marks and a practical exam of 20 marks. The language subjects including English and Hindi will be conducted for 80 marks and 20 marks will be reserved for internal assessment/practical exam. Social Science will be further divided into two parts. History and Political Science exam will be conducted for 60 marks and Geography exam will be conducted for 40 marks. Unit 1: Basics of Computer Systems

- Evolution of computers - Types of computers (analog, digital, hybrid, micro, mini, mainframe, supercomputers) - Input, output, and storage devices - System software vs. application software

Students will learn about the development of computers, the classification of different computer types, and their uses in various industries. The importance of system software like operating systems and utilities, and application software like word processors, spreadsheets, and databases, is explained with practical usage examples.

Unit 2: Operating Systems and File Management

- Functions of an operating system - Types of operating systems (single-user, multi-user, batch, time-sharing, real-time) - File organization and management - Basic commands and GUI operations

Emphasis is on understanding how the operating system works as the backbone of the computer. Students learn to organize files and folders, manage memory, and understand multitasking. Exposure is given to both command-line operations and graphical interfaces.

Unit 3: Office Productivity Tools

- Word Processing: document creation, formatting, styles, tables, mail merge - Spreadsheets: formulas, functions, charts, data analysis, conditional formatting - Presentation software: slide creation, transitions, animations, inserting multimedia

This unit gives students hands-on experience with common productivity tools that are used in both academic and professional settings. They learn to create structured documents, calculate and analyze data, and design professional presentations.

Unit 4: Networking and Internet

- Concepts of networking (LAN, WAN, MAN, PAN) - Network devices (switches, routers, hubs, modems) - Internet services (email, cloud storage, search engines, e-commerce, e-governance) - Cyber safety and security (viruses, malware, phishing, firewalls, antivirus, strong passwords)

Students gain knowledge of how computer networks function, their advantages, and applications. The focus is also on responsible use of the internet, identifying cyber threats, and applying security measures to stay safe online.

Unit 5: Programming Concepts (Python Basics)

- Introduction to algorithms and flowcharts - Basics of Python programming - Data types, variables, operators - Conditional statements (if, if-else, nested if) - Loops (for, while) - Simple programs for arithmetic, decision making, and repetition

The aim of this unit is to provide logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students learn how to design algorithms, represent them with flowcharts, and implement them in Python. Focus is given to hands-on practice and debugging small programs.

Unit 6: Database Management

- Introduction to databases - Concepts: tables, records, fields, keys - Basics of DBMS software - SQL commands (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE) - Simple queries with conditions, sorting, and filtering

This unit introduces the importance of structured data storage and retrieval. Students learn how databases work, how to create tables, insert records, and retrieve specific information using SQL commands.

Unit 7: Emerging Technologies

- Artificial Intelligence (AI): applications in daily life - Machine Learning basics - Internet of Things (IoT) and its applications in smart homes, healthcare, and industry - Cloud Computing - Mobile Apps and Software Development trends

Students are exposed to modern innovations shaping the future of technology. They understand the role of AI and IoT in smart devices, the convenience of cloud services, and the fast-changing software industry.

Step 1: Browse the official website of the board – www.mahahsscboard.in.

Step 2: On the top of the home page, find and click on the option "Subjects & Syllabus".

Step 3: From the drop-down options, click on ‘SSC General Subject Codes and Syllabus’.

Step 4: A new window will open on your screen where you can see a table containing subject-wise syllabus links.
