Goa SSC Syllabus 2025-26 has been released online at gbshse.in. You can find the syllabus PDF for the main subjects included in the curriculum. There are a total of 5 main subjects included in the Goa SSC curriculum, namely a first language subject, followed by a second language subject, and then Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. You can also choose one elective subject, such as Fine Arts. Each subject will carry 100 marks, which are divided into theory and practical papers. The language papers, followed by Mathematics and Social Science, will be conducted for 80 marks, while 20 marks are allotted for the internal assessment.

The theory paper for Science will be conducted for 70 marks, while 30 marks are allotted for the practical paper. A. Reading Skills (20 Marks)

- Unseen Passage (Discursive/Descriptive): 400–450 words- Unseen Passage (Case-based/Factual): 200–250 words with interpretation, inference, and vocabulary

Students practice reading comprehension through unseen texts. The passages test the ability to extract information, interpret meaning, identify main ideas, understand tone, and apply contextual vocabulary. This section develops analytical reading skills, critical thinking, and the ability to summarize and explain.

B. Writing Skills with Grammar (30 Marks)

Writing Tasks:1. Letter Writing (formal/informal, including complaints, enquiries, and official letters)2. Analytical Paragraph Writing (based on given data, outline, chart, or image)3. Descriptive/Short CompositionsGrammar Topics:- Tenses (present, past, future forms)- Modals- Subject–Verb Agreement- Reported Speech (commands, statements, questions)- Determiners

Writing tasks aim to strengthen students’ expression, clarity, and logical structuring of ideas. Letter writing enhances formal and informal communication, while analytical writing develops reasoning and interpretation of data. Grammar ensures accuracy and fluency in language usage. Students learn to present arguments, narrate events, and explain ideas coherently with correct grammar.

C. Literature – First Flight (Prose & Poetry)

Literature introduces learners to diverse genres, cultures, and themes. Prose selections highlight values like resilience, cultural understanding, empathy, and humor, while poems develop sensitivity to language, rhythm, symbolism, and human emotions. Through character studies, dramatic scenes, and poetic imagination, students gain appreciation for literary style and moral lessons. Extract-based questions train them to interpret text, infer meanings, and analyze themes.

D. Supplementary Reader – Footprints Without Feet

- A Triumph of Surgery- The Thief’s Story- The Midnight Visitor- A Question of Trust- Footprints Without Feet- The Making of a Scientist- The Necklace- The Hack Driver- Bholi- The Book that Saved the Earth

These short stories enrich students’ understanding of human behavior, ethics, intelligence, and problem-solving. Each narrative is designed to engage critical thinking and foster creativity. For example, stories like The Necklace emphasize consequences of pride and vanity, while Bholi explores themes of education and empowerment. Students learn moral values and develop interpretative skills.

E. Internal Assessment (20 Marks)

- Listening Activities (based on comprehension of audio texts)- Speaking Skills (debates, role-plays, declamations, speeches, narrations)- Project Work & Portfolio (record of assignments, activities, creative writing, reading log)- Periodic Tests & Class Participation

Internal assessment encourages holistic learning. Speaking and listening tasks strengthen communication and confidence. Portfolio work reflects creativity, independent learning, and continuous progress. Regular activities and oral practice aim to build fluency and practical language usage beyond rote memorization.

  • Make a study schedule to obtain desired scores in the final Goa board SSC result 2026. Below, we have given some important tips that can help you in exams to score well.
  • Check GBSHSE marking scheme 10th class and try to cover topics that carry more weightage as early as possible. After that, cover the remaining topics.
  • Work on your weak areas and improve those by devoting extra time to those subjects.
