The CLAT 2026 registration process began on 1st August 2025. Students have till 31st October to be able to register for the CLAT examination. A major aspect of the CLAT registration process is paying the required registration fees. On the other hand, students from SC and ST categories will have the option of paying a significantly lesser fee as per their category for the CLAT registration process.

How Important is it to Pay Fees for CLAT Registration?

Paying the fees is highly important as part of the CLAT registration process. Without paying the fees for registration, students will not be considered to have registered for the CLAT exam. It is crucial students pay the registration fees for the CLAT registration process at the earliest to avoid paying any late fee charges. Students will be required to make the fee payment for the CLAT exam through the online mode via net banking, credit/ debit card or UPI.

In very special circumstances for very low income families, waivers may be provided for students to be able to complete their registration for the CLAT examination.The waivers allow more students to have access to and pursue their required legal education. Certain NLUs offer scholarships and lower registration fees for the CLAT examination if students meet the required criteria.

CLAT 2026 Registration Overview

Provided below is a step-by-step overview of the CLAT 2026 application process. Following these simple steps will ensure students know what to expect and do when filling-in their application forms for the CLAT 2026 examination.

The CLAT 2026 registration process is as follows:

  1. Registration: Visit the official CLAT website atconsortiumofnlus.ac.in. On the website, students must choose the register option.
  2. Details:While registering students must provide the relevant details. These include a student’s name, phone number, email address, and password. After completing the form details, students must finish a captcha to proceed.
  3. Verification:After the previous formalities have been completed, students must verify their accounts through an OTP. Students can then login to their newly created accounts to further the application process.
  4. Application Form:Students must fill in their CLAT 2026 application forms. This requires students to include several relevant details including:
  • Personal Information such as name, DoB, nationality, category, domicile etc.
  • Address details such as correspondence address, permanent address etc.
  • Parental Information such as names, email addresses and phone numbers.
  • Academic Information such as class 10th marks and class 12th marks.
  1. Course Selection: Students will then be required to select the course of their choice. Students will be required to choose between the CLAT UG or PG depending on their requirements and standing.
  2. Center Selection: After selecting their course, students will be required to choose 3 test centers for the CLAT 2026 exam in order of preference.
  3. Uploading of Documents:There are several important documents students must prepare for the CLAT 2026 examination. These documents include a passport-sized photograph, PwD certificate (if applicable) and a category certificate (if applicable)
  4. Payment of Fees:It is very important for students to pay the fees as part of the CLAT registration process. Without paying the fees students will not be considered to have registered for the CLAT examination.
