As of May 2025, the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) earns about ₹2,25,000 a month, which is in line with what Secretary-level officers in the Government of India make.
With the 8th Pay Commission set to kick in on January 1, 2026, there’s talk about possible salary changes. While we don't know the exact numbers yet, it’s expected that salaries could go up by about 20-25%. If that happens, the CBI Director's monthly pay could reach around ₹2,70,000.
