Exam

What is the AIPMT Exam?

The full form of AIPMT is the All India Pre-Medical test. CBSE oversaw this national-level admission test and the Educational Board of India changed its agency in 2016. The admission test is now administered by the NTA and is also altered the nomenclature of the entrance exam from AIPMT to NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). The AIPMT exam was used to select students for MBBS and BDS programs. Any student may take the AIPMT (NEET) Entrance Exam three times. Every year, about 15 lakh students take the NEET-UG AIPMT (NEET-UG). The fundamental goal of administering this test throughout India was to guarantee that every prospective student in the country had equal access to medical school. It was intended to foster equitable inter-regional interaction throughout all of India's regions. The test was traditionally held on the first Sunday of May.

AIPMT and NEET Difference

The NEET and AIPMT are medical admission tests that are administered throughout India.

  1. When we compare the two, we can observe that AIPMT had two levels of examinations called Prelims and Mains.
  2. CBSE administered both AIPMT examinations.
  3. AIPMT was worried about providing seats for just 15% of AIQ seats.
  4. When NEET was introduced, it effectively expanded AIPMT's scope.
  5. Experts and toppers say that NEET has a high level of competitiveness, but that scoring higher in NEET is far more likely than in AIPMT.
  6. Because these are competitive tests, scoring well is not enough; one must outperform their peers.
  7. The NEET provides admission to medical schools across the country.
  8. AIIMS was recently included in the NEET.
  9. Because spaces are restricted, applicants must rank in the top 1% to 2% nationally or in their state to be admitted to a premium national or state institution via NEET.

Why was AIPMT replaced by NEET?

For the past two months, the term 'NEET' has been the most popular topic, even among non-medical aspirants pursuing arts and engineering programs. However, many medical students are unaware that another medical test known as 'AIPMT' is quite popular throughout the country. Though AIPMT was less difficult than NEET, it had a number of infectious problems. Furthermore, multiple legal petitions were made to the Supreme Court for the necessity for various state governments to standardize the method of medical admittance. NEET was introduced in 2012, replacing AIPMT for the first time.

However, owing to demand from many sources, AIPMT was reinstated later in 2013. NEET, on the other hand, was reinstated on April 11, 2016, when the Supreme Court granted the Central Government and the Medical Council of India (MCI) permission to execute the NEET.
