Madras University (MU) is one of the oldest University in the Indian sub-continent. It was established in the year 1857 by an Act of Legislative Council of India. The University of Madras is situated in the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
The university is based on the model of London University, it has jurisdiction across three districts of Tamil Nadu with 4 campuses in Marina, Taramani , Chepauk, and Guindy. It offers varied graduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs through 68 departments further segregated into 18 schools.It is accredited by NAAC with grade “A” and recognized by UGC( University Grants Commision)
