The thapar culture as we call it is an experience of lifetime. While preparing for the competitive exams everyone seems to forget their talents and interests. The college helps to revive them. From the very first day one can see the change. From the infrastructure to the crowd all is just extraordinary at thapar. From innumerable socities, events and workshops one can gather all he knowledge , required is just the zeal to participate. The campus is spread in a huge area of 250 acres with greenery all over it and the infrastructure is even better than some of the top NIT’s. The placements are also well at here with 96% placements ratio and packages as high as 40 lakhs. The average package for CS placements stand at 8-9 lakhs.

Best place to walk-in with all your heart and soul. 5/5

The admission at Thapar University is done on the basis of JEE MAIN score. To apply for BTech courses a person must have scored at least 20% in JEE MAIN exam i.e. 72 marks. Some seats are reserved for backward classes and there is a quota for students of Punjab also. For the admission, you need to apply online and there are 4 rounds of online counsellings and after that In-person counseling to fill the vacant seats. I scored 95 in JEE MAIN (2015) and at the time of In-person counseling I was offered a seat in Chemical, Meta Production, Software, Electronics Instrumentation, and Electrical. I took admission in Electrical stream.

Placement 5/5

There is a project semester in our course scheme at Thapar University. In that semester students are required to spend at least 5 months in the industry. Yes, internship (training) is offered to the students in the campus in that semester and if any student left an impressive mark with his work then he is offered placement package too before the fourth year. Center for Industrial Liasion & Placement (CILP) arranges placements for final year students. According to the data provided more than 170 companies visited in Thapar University in 2015-2016 (till 30-6-2016) and approx 926 students were placed. Maruti, Tata, Synopsys & Black Rock, Amazon, Honda, Sandisk, Crompton, Oracle, Hike Ltd., visit very often. The placement percentage at Thapar University is more than 90% and the average package is around Rs. 6 lakh pa.

Overview 5/5

Thapar University is a very well reputed private college being established in year 1956 and have completed 60 yrs of existence. The environment of the college is very very liberal nearly no restrictions on the students on the dress code, freedom to travel,24/7 library it works more or less like a government college. WiFi speed is fabulous, Full Linux based labs, everything is great. Food quality is very good considering other college. I only dislike the high fees though it’s worth it but it could have been a bit less. Many scholarships are available which can lessen the fees to match up fees of government college.

Placement 5/5

It’s great. This year a company offered 38 lpa to 2 students and 60-70+ students got a package greater than 10lpa. Average package for 2015-16 was 6lpa

Salary Package  Above 25 Lakhs

Overview 5/5

There are many a things Im sure people at Thapar would want to change. The high fees The hostel timings The attendance criteria High number of students per lecture No attendance compensation for extra curricular activities, sometimes not even for official college work. Certain, completely useless subjects (irrelevant is the right word) Punjab state quota A few arrogant faculty 8 am - 5 pm college timings No personal vehicles allowed in campus Except all this its must go...

Placement 4.5/5

Well, a lot depends on the branch you are in if you are interested in the core companies visiting the campus. For non-core we have companies like JP Morgan Chase, Deloitte, ZS Consulting, Futures First, Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC etc to name a few which offer lucrative packages to the students starting from 8lpa going up till 15lpa(there are some others like EXL, mu sigma which offer somewhere around 6–8 lpa and few other which offer again in the range of 8+). Companies having packages above 15lpa are mainly Microsoft, De Shaw, Walmart, Works Experience, Proptiger, Myntra, Hikari Tsushin etc. Well now since you have mentioned that you want the data for all branches, I found something that shall solve this quickly. You can view all the organisations on this link.

Salary Package  5 - 7 Lakhs

Reasons why I chose this College. 4/5

No particular entrance exam is there , you just have to score good marks close to the cut off from JEE Mains to get into Electrical or civil or chemical engineering, but for computer science, electronics , mechanical you need to score a little bit higher and also you must have a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM in your respective board examination.

Placement 4.5/5

The placements have been good so far. Last year it was around 89% with the highest package being 40LPA. Companies like MICROSOFT, HSBC, JPMC, Delloite, Schneider, HAVELLS, etc. visited the campus to boost up the placements. The placement at any college depends on how much deserving you are.

Best place to walk-in with all your heart and soul. 3/5

For getting admission into THAPAR, you have to give JEE MAIN and the seat is allotted as per your rank. Besides, it has some seats reserved for students under sports quota and also for J&K and NE students having separate cut off for students of Punjab state and rest of India. Typical cut off for the civil branch is usually about 70-80.

Placement 4.5/5

Thapar is a reputed college, and is renowned for it’s placements, as most of the students here get placed ( 95-100% ). The highest package has been of 38 Lacs and the lowest is 3.5 Lacs per annum. Companies like D. E. SHAW usually visits thapar for the recruitment of new talents and brains. There is a special placement cell in the college and the students starts getting internships in the 5th semester only, on the basis of their knowledge in their respective streams. So, overall it’s a good college, if judged on the basis of placements.
