XLRI Jamshedpur Welcomes 429 New Students into 2025–27 PGDM & FPM Programmes

The campus of XLRI – Xavier School of Management in Jamshedpur came alive on June 9, 2025, as it officially welcomed 429 fresh minds into its flagship postgraduate programmes. For those enrolled in the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), PGDM (Business Management), PGDM (Human Resource Management), and PGDM (Logistics & Supply Chain Management – in partnership with Rutgers), the induction signifies the start of a new academic chapter. Students are joining from all over the nation.

A Ceremony That Blended Tradition and Inspiration

The day began on a solemn note with a Prayer Service led by faculty members, including Fr. Donald D’Silva and Dr. Sanjay Patro. Spiritual readings from the Gita, Bible, Quran, and Guru Granth Sahib gave the ceremony a unique touch of inclusivity and reverence—core to XLRI’s long-standing tradition of value-based education.

The lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the collective Honour Pledge by the students added meaning to the event. It wasn’t just about beginning classes—it was about entering a community built on integrity, mutual respect, and a commitment to leadership with a conscience.

Director’s Message: “Learn, Unlearn, Relearn”

The new group was greeted by XLRI Director Fr. (Dr.) Sebastian George, S.J., who spoke warmly and wisely. Emphasising the importance of adaptability and continuous growth, he encouraged students to learn with humility, unlearn outdated patterns, and embrace new perspectives.

In a message appropriate for aspiring corporate executives, he also cautioned them that although some problems have simple answers, others call for more in-depth thought and emotional intelligence.

Looking Beyond Classrooms

The induction also featured a short film tracing XLRI’s rich legacy since 1949, along with an overview of what students can expect during their time on campus. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, form early relationships, and experience the collaborative spirit that XLRI is known for via interactive mentor sessions.

The Journey Begins

For the 429 students stepping into XLRI’s classrooms this year, the road ahead is filled with opportunities to learn, lead, and grow. As they begin this journey, XLRI continues to hold true to its mission—developing responsible leaders who will make a difference not just in business, but in society at large.
