The certification ceremony, held on the XLRI campus, was more than just formal—it was a celebration of resilience, transformation, and hope. “This centre… continues [Fr. McGrath’s] legacy of empowering lives through education,” noted Fr. Donald D’Silva, the Centre Convenor. Fr. S. George, XLRI’s Director, urged trainees to use this milestone as a springboard: “The world may define you by limitations, but you now hold the skills to redefine that narrative”.

Leadership and Vision

Senior XLRI leaders, including Prof. Sunil Sarangi, Dr. Sanjay Patro, Fr. Jerry Cutinha, Fr. Pravin Jose, and Harbhajan Singh (Chief Strategy & HR, XLRI Delhi-NCR), attended the event and contributed their industry perspective and institutional support. Early Success and Positive Impact

Fr. Pravin Jose emphasized the trainees' development on both a personal and professional level over the months, pointing out that"many have already secured job offers, including placements with India Post,"while others are looking into prospects for self-employment. The program's goal of providing access to secure professions in the public and private sectors is reflected in these early results.

Continuing Fr. McGrath's Legacy

Named in honour of Fr. McGrath, the Irish Jesuit priest known for uplifting Jamshedpur’s working class, this initiative aligns with XLRI’s broader mission of social justice and inclusive growth. In underprivileged youth, it demonstrates how focused skill development can greatly improve employability and self-worth.
