KIIT-Deemed University (KIIT-DU) has reached a big goal by being ranked for the first time in the QS World University Rankings 2026. This marks a significant global recognition for the Odisha-based private institution, which has grown rapidly since its founding.

In its debut rating, KIIT is ranked as the best privateuniversity in Odisha, the55th best university in South Asia, and the ninth best private education institution in India. The QS rankings assess universities across several indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, research output, internationalization, and sustainability.

KIIT, which was established in 1992 as an industrial training institute and was recognized as a deemed university in 2004, has expanded into a multifunctional university with more than 40,000 students and a strong emphasis on research, innovation, and international collaborations. It is believed that its inclusion in the QS rankings validates its institutional and academic advancements over the years.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, called the achievement a proud moment and credited the university's community of students, faculty, and staff.“It’s a reflection of the university’s sustained efforts in providing quality education, fostering research, and promoting social responsibility,”he said.

For private colleges hoping to gain international recognition, KIIT's participation on this list is a significant step. The university now plans to focus more on research excellence, faculty development, and international collaborations to climb further in future editions of the rankings.

With its QS debut, KIIT joins a select group of Indian institutions recognized globally, setting a strong example for emerging private universities in the country.
