Hyderabad: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H), conducted an inspection recently and identified many flaws in most of the state's engineering colleges.
Key problems identified
The inspection revealed that most of the colleges lack sufficient numbers of faculty members approved by the university. The inspection also revealed that the lab software in most of the colleges was either not functioning or very outdated and old.
These audits were conducted as part of the university affiliation review for 2025-26. JNTU Hyderabad is monitoring 175 engineering and 127 pharmacy colleges in Telangana. These problems have questioned the quality of education imparted.
What did college management say?
The college representatives claimed that 15-20% of the teachers have not ratified since they had joined mid-year. They also vowed to make some moves towards the laboratory and infrastructure problems before the new session begins.
In their view, the issues revealed are not critical at all, and they were guaranteed that their colleges would be approved (affiliated) by the university at any cost.
