The two-day 27th Annual Convocation of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) was organized grandly the history of the institute, which had hosted its first-ever two-day recognition ceremony. A total of 1,318 students graduated from eight academic programs. One of the significant highlights of this year’s convocation was the conferring of 38 doctoral degrees — the largest ever in the history of IIM Kozhikode. This figure was twice the PhDs conferred in years past, a sign of the institute’s increasing emphasis on research and advanced scholarship.
The convocation took place in two parts.
Day 1 recorded 677 students receiving diplomas from five regular full-time programs of study, including the Post Graduate Programme (PGP), PGP in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM), PGP in Finance (PGP-FIN), PGP in Business Leadership (PGP-BL), and the Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD). Prof. Soumitra Dutta, Dean of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, was the Chief Guest at the event. Guest of Honour: Radhika Gupta, MD & CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund. The sessions highlighted the academic progress of scholars from various programs, along with recognizing gold medalists and other high achievers.
Day 2- centered on the executive education programs, with degrees being awarded to 641 students from the Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP – Interactive Learning Mode), EPGP Kochi Campus, and the PhD in Management – Practice Track (a doctoral program especially for professionals). The Chief Guest on this day was Dr. V Narayanan, Chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO, who highlighted the importance of innovation and leadership in management education today.
Of these, 38 were awarded doctoral degrees and 29 to doctoral degrees under the regular full-time 09 and the Practice Track. The unique and flexible doctoral programme from IIMK is aimed at working professionals. PhD awards have flourished across the Institute, reinforcing its research-led culture and providing access to advanced education for non-typical academic practitioners.
This was another year for IIM Kozhikode to preserve its greatness at national and international levels. NIRF 2024 Rankings: IIMK 3rd Best Management Institute in India. It was ranked 68th in the Financial Times (FT) Masters in Management 2024 for its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) globally and 70th for its Executive Education program globally. These rankings reconfirm IIMK’s global leadership positioning as a world-class business school with a strong focus on excellence, innovation, and inclusion.
