IIIT-Bangalore Student Receives ₹1.45 Crore Package at 25th Convocation

On Saturday, the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) celebrated its silver jubilee with its 25th convocation, marking important academic and placement milestones. A student from the Integrated M.Tech programme received an annual package of ₹1.45 crore, the highest offer recorded in the institute’s history.

A total of 372 students graduated from various programmes, including M.Tech, Integrated M.Tech, M.Sc. in Digital Society, M.S. by Research, and Ph.D. The convocation ceremony was held at the institute's campus in Bengaluru.

Fourteen students received annual offers exceeding ₹60 lakh, while 67 students were offered packages above ₹40 lakh. Over 180 students secured placements with salaries higher than ₹20 lakh per annum.

Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, was the chief guest at the event. Dr. Venkat Padmanabhan, Managing Director, Microsoft Research India, was the guest of honour. The convocation was presided over by Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairperson of the IIIT-B Governing Body.

Gold medals were awarded to top performers from various programmes. Valipireddy Pranathi received the medal for M.Tech, Monjoy Narayan Choudhury for Integrated M.Tech, and Sookthi Bhat Kav for M.Sc. in Digital Society. Ananda Prakash Verma was recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year.

IIIT-B Director Prof. Debabrata Das highlighted the institute's contributions to building Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The Modular Open Source Identity Platform (MOSIP), developed by the institute, has been used to issue over 136 million digital identities, impacting more than 950 million people across multiple countries. The institute also launched INJI, a privacy-preserving digital ID wallet adopted in various international deployments. IIIT-B’s Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI) currently supports DPI projects in more than 60 countries.

The institute recently received government approval for the establishment of a new East Campus with an estimated budget of ₹817 crore. IIIT-B has also been awarded the International Green University Award for the third consecutive year, in recognition of its sustainability initiatives.
