A student of the Integrated M.Tech (iMTech) programme at the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) has bagged a record-breaking job offer worth ₹1.45 crore per annum, making it the highest salary package in the institute’s 25-year history.
The announcement was made during IIIT-B’s Silver Jubilee Convocation, held earlier this month, where a total of 372 students graduated across various programmes including M.Tech, iMTech, M.Sc in Digital Society, M.S by Research, and Ph.D.
The Bengaluru-based college is having a great placement season, and the high-paying offer is part of it. This year,14 students received offers above ₹60 lakh, while 67 others secured packages exceeding ₹40 lakh per annum. In all, over 180 students were offered jobs with salaries higher than ₹20 lakh, reflecting a steady demand for IIIT-B graduates in the technology sector.
Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-B, spoke at the convocation and congratulated the graduating class. He said that many of them have worked on cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, wireless systems, and software architectures. As evidence of the institute's robust research and innovation ecosystem, some students have also submitted patent applications.
The convocation ceremony was attended by eminent personalities including Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director of IISc Bangalore, as Chief Guest, and Dr. Venkat Padmanabhan, Managing Director of Microsoft Research India, as Guest of Honour. The event was presided over by Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairperson of IIIT-B’s Governing Body.
Medals were given to outstanding pupils for their academic success. Valipireddy Pranathi, Monjoy Narayan Choudhury, and Sookthi Bhat Kav received gold medals for their performance, while Ananda Prakash Verma was recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year.
With this year’s exceptional placement figures and growing focus on industry-relevant education, IIIT-B continues to strengthen its position as a top-tier institute for technology education in India.
