In a significant academic achievement, Goa University has been awarded an A+ grade with a CGPA of 3.3 in the latest cycle of accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), marking a substantial leap from its previous B+ rating. With the accreditation, which is valid until 2030, the university is ranked among the best in India.

The upgraded score reflects improvements across critical areas such as academic excellence, research output, infrastructure development, and student support services, according to university officials. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Harilal Menon said, "This is a proud moment for all of us," in reference to the award. The A+ grade affirms our efforts to foster innovation, academic rigour, and inclusive learning.”

With the A+ grade, Goa University now ranks prominently among institutions evaluated under NAAC’s rigorous standards. It is anticipated that the university's eligibility for financial opportunities, student exchange programs, and national and international partnerships will be strengthened by the improved accreditation. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also extended congratulations, acknowledging the varsity’s excellence in teaching, research, and infrastructure.
NAAC Assessment Highlights
NAAC’s evaluation assigns 70% weightage to quantitative data, faculty qualifications, staffing, infrastructure, and 30% to peer assessments conducted during campus visits. Goa University’s marked improvement from its earlier A (CGPA 3.01–3.25) and B+ grades showcases its consistent and structured development.
