What is AILET?

AILET full form is All India Law Entrance Test which is conducted by National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level law courses. This is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to law programmes at NLU Delhi only. The exam will be held in a pen-paper-based mode from 2 PM to 4 PM at the designated exam centres.

Note: No other entrance exam is accepted for NLU Delhi admissions. CLAT 2026 scores will not be acceptable for admission to NLU Delhi.

The AILET hall ticket is available to those candidates who successfully register for the AILET exam. The AILET 2026 admit card is an important document that must be carried to the AILET test centre. AILET 2026 Exam Pattern

The AILET exam pattern for both LLB and LLM courses is released by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi on the official website each year. The AILET test pattern for both these courses is different. The LLB exam is for 150 marks and the LLM exam is for 100 marks. Candidates can check the AILET LLB and AILET LLM exam pattern in the tables below.

As per the AILET marking scheme, each correct answer will fetch you 1 mark, and each incorrect answer will result in deduction of 0.25 marks. This means, that 1 mark will be deducted for 4 incorrect answers.

AILET Exam Pattern 2026 for BA LLB

BA LLB (Hons) has three sections wherein, the Logical Reasoning section carries 70 marks, the English Language carries 50 marks, and the Current Affairs & GK section carries 30 marks. The BA LLB paper contains a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (carrying 1 mark per question). For each incorrect answer 0.25 marks are deducted.

AILET Exam Day Guidelines 2026

On the day of the exam, it is important for candidates to adhere to some guidelines so that they do not have to go through any hassle at the last minute. Check out some important AILET 2026 exam day guidelines below.

Important AILET documents 2026

Candidates must ensure that they are carrying the below-mentioned documents and things to the allotted AILET exam centre 2026.

  • Admit card
  • Valid and original photo ID proof such as PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Passport, etc.
  • Passport-size photo (preferably the one used in AILET application form)
  • Black/blue ballpoint pen

Items Prohibited at AILET Exam Centres

While it is important to carry the aforementioned documents and items, candidates must also keep in mind not to carry the below-mentioned things inside the test centre -

Reporting Time

Candidates must reach the allotted AILET centre at least one hour before the commencement of the exam. While at the centre, candidates must follow all social distancing guidelines and also adhere to what the exam centre authorities instruct.

AILET Answer Key 2026

The AILET answer keys are released on the official NLU website - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. Candidates can download these answer keys in PDF format by clicking on the link that is activated on the website after the exam is over. The AILET answer keys are released twice. First, AILET provisional answer key is released which indicates the correct answer option against each question.

Once the provisional answer keys are released, the AILET aspirants can challenge or raise objections to the AILET answer key. This means that if the student feels that a released answer by NLU is incorrect, they can raise objection by submitting valid proof of the correct answer. However, a fee needs to be paid for each objection raised. Meaning, if the students wish to challenge more than one answer, the fee will be paid on per question basis.

Once NLU receives and reviews the challenges, the second and the final AILET answer key is released. Post the final key, the candidates cannot raise any objections and the window will be closed. The objection window is usually open for 2-3 days after the provisional answer key for AILET is out. Therefore, candidates must be careful while raising objections as it can affect their AILET results and impact the overall AILET cutoff scores.

AILET Result 2026

Once the AILET final answer key is released, the AILET results are prepared and released. The AILET result can be downloaded from the official website by logging in using the AILET login credentials. The result-cum-scorecard of AILET 2026 will include details like the marks, rank, and qualifying status of the candidate.

AILET Counselling Process 2026

AILET counselling is conducted online via the AILET Portal, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The AILET 2026 counselling process includes the following steps -

AILET Admission Process 2026

The admission process of NLU Delhi through AILET 2026 includes the following steps:

Step 1: Online Registration

Candidates can register online on the official website of NLU Delhi -https://nludelhi.ac.inand fill all the required details in the application form, upload prescribed documents and pay the exam fee. The AILET application form 2026 for AILET can be submitted in online mode only.

Step 2: AILET 2026 Admit Card

NLU Delhi issues admit cards to candidates who successfully register for the exam. Candidates have to carry the admit card of AILET 2026 on exam day. Any candidate carrying the admit card is not allowed to appear for the exam.

Step 3: AILET 2026 Exam

Candidates have to appear for AILET at the allotted test center as mentioned on the admit card. They should report at the test centers at least an hour before the examination.

Step 4: Result Declaration

NLU Delhi usually announces AILET results within a month after conducting the examination. The scorecards of candidates qualifying the examination mention their All India Ranks (AIRs), sectional scores as well as overall scores.

Step 5: Counselling

The university conducts AILET counseling based on the rank list released at the time of the result. In the counselling session, qualifying candidates are allotted seats in their respective law courses based on merit. During the counselling process, candidates are required to get their documents verified and pay the admission fee to confirm their admission.
