NIT Durgapur was Founded in the year 1960. National Institute of Technology Durgapur was earlier known as the Regional Engineering College, Durgapur. It is a public technical university located in West Bengal in Durgapur city. It is one of India’s oldest technical universities. It has a huge campus of area around 187 acres (0.75 km²). The NIT Durgapur has been ranked 7th among the NITs by the NIRF, 34th for engineering, and 72nd in overall in India in the year 2022.
It was established under an Act of Parliament among other eight colleges like a cooperative venture between the Government of India and the Government of West Bengal. It was done to promote engineering education in the country along with enabling national integration. NIT Durgapur became a fully funded institution under the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India, managed by an autonomous Board of Governors. It is also one of East India’s institutions chosen as a Lead Institute under the World Bank-funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Indian government. NIT Durgapur is also the Lead Institute under the World Bank-funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Indian government. The Indian Union Government designated it as an "Institute of National Importance" in 2007.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of India, spoke to the institute on November 22, 2013, at the occasion of the 9th convocation. He commended the institute for its work in research and innovation.

Click on ‘B. Tech.’ as relevant.
Enter your DOB in the format dd/mm/yyyy and Admission ID as indicated below.
Your admission ID will be the following: JoSAA/CSAB 2022 allotted candidates - “JEE Main Application ID”. SII / ICCR – SII/ICCR Reference Number DASA / MEA – Shall be intimated to individual candidates
Click on ‘Submit’- On the next page fill up the details in the appropriate fields.
Click on ‘Save and Continue’ – On the following page upload the requisite documents similar to that you have done in the JOSAA/CSAB/DASA/ICCR/SII, etc.
First Click on ‘Save’ and then ‘Next & Preview’- check and submit your details.
As you submit, you will see a message confirming your submission’s success. The NIT Durgapur Admission Committee must approve your application. Upon approval, you will get a message from pr@admin.nitdgp.ac.in with links to download your NIT Durgapur admissions documents. This could take two to three days. Following that, you will hear from the appropriate class teachers to begin the online academic activities.

NIT Durgapur Fees & Courses
The NIT Durgapur currently has 4000 students enrolled, 14 departments, 5 centres of excellence, 224 faculty members, and. Four BTech programmes, 19 MTech programmes, three MSc programmes, one MCA programme, one MBA programme, and one MSW programe along with one PhD programme are available at NIT Durgapur Courses. The two of the highly rated main programmes of the institute, with an emphasis on engineering, are BTech and MTech. While MTech admissions require GATE scores, BTech admissions are based on JEE Main rank.
