Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College was established in 1956 by the Nankana Sahib Education Trust. It approved by All-India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE). GNE is the first Engineering College of Punjab, which was conferred Autonomous Status by University Grants Commission in 2012. The college is affiliated with Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College campus is spread over 86 acres of prime land about 5 Kms from Bus Stand and 8 Kms from Ludhiana Railway Station on Ludhiana-Malerkotla Road.
Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. UG courses includes B.Tech, BBA, BCA, B.Voc, B.Arch. And PG Courses includes M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and M.Sc with the specialization of Physics and Chemistry. Admissions to B.Tech, M.Tech, and MBA are entrance based while admissions to MCA and Ph.D. are merit-based. Applications are available in both online and offline modes.
The college campus is meticulously designed, featuring well-organized tree plantations, pathways, and flowerbeds, complemented by meticulously maintained expansive lawns throughout. The campus encompasses various impressive structures, including the college building, hostels, a swimming pool, a sports complex, a gymnasium hall, Gurduwara Sahib, a bank, a dispensary, a post office, and an open-air theater. For student accommodation, there are three hostels available for boys and one for girls, providing a total capacity of approximately 1200 students.
