About Elphinstone College Mumbai : Elphinstone College was established in the year 1835 and can be listed in the category of one of the oldest colleges in the history of the Indian education system. It was incepted in Mumbai, Maharashtra one of the places having an influential historical value. It was instrumental in defining and developing the city’s educational scene. It was also instrumental in the establishment of the University of Mumbai. At present Elphinstone, College Course includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses divided majorly into 4 streams Science, Commerce and Banking, Arts and Vocational studies. The college is a constituent college of Dr Homi Bhabha State University. The institute is affiliated with the University of Mumbai but in 2019, it ended its affiliation with the University of Mumbai.
The College is well-known for its undergraduate programmes in the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams, such as B.A, B.Sc, and B.Com. Apart from supported courses, Elphinstone College also provides self-financed courses in Management and Technology. Admission to these programs, however, is strictly based on the students’ 10+2 or final qualifying examination results.
Furthermore, Elphinstone College offers three-month certification courses/add-on courses in Remote Sensing (RS) Technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Elphinstone College is divided into two academic divisions: junior and degree colleges. Until 2019, degree or "senior" colleges were associated with the University of Mumbai. It was afterwards included as a constituent institution of Dr Homi Bhabha State University. This was a brand-new state-owned cluster university. It was the original of its sort. After only a few months, another state cluster university, the HSNC University, was established in Mumbai, which included institutes such as KC College and HR College. Elphinstone College Uniform: according to the official website The college does not enforce a dress code however learners are expected to preserve/ maintain the decorum of the college.
The institution’s junior college is associated with the Maharashtra State Board. (commonly known as HSC Board). It offers instruction at the upper secondary or high school levels. Higher Secondary School Certificate in Arts, Commerce, and Science.
