XAT 2025 Verbal Ability Strategies

There are several key strategies that can help students crack the verbal ability section of the XAT exam. This section carries an approximate 26 questions in the exam and can be an easy-to-score section if students have good strategies. Provided below are some strategies that students can use for the XAT erbal ability section:

  • Reading: It is very important students practice reading when preparing for the verbal ability section. Reading newspapers, articles and books can help students develop a good reading speed. Students can also try formulating questions based on the topics/ subjects they read on to help in the development of their overall speed for the XAT verbal ability section.
  • Mock Tests:Mock tests are a very useful way for students to build speed. Mock tests enable students to simulate the actual XAT examination. Trying to simulate the actual conditions of the XAT exam can ensure students are able to build speed and accuracy when giving the exam. Students can find free mock tests to practice from online as well as use previous years’ question papers
  • Context Clues: This is especially helpful for questions such as fill-in-the-blanks, error-spotting and contextual words. Finding and understanding the context of the questions can help boost a student’s overall score on the exam. More often than not, context clues go hand-in-hand with having a good command for grammar.
  • Attempt as Many Questions: Students should try to attempt as many questions as possible in this section of the XAT exam. This section can be the most scoring section for a student on the exam. If a student does not attempt more than 8 questions, they will start to lose marks through negative marking. Ideally, students should attempt between 17 to 20 questions on this section of the XAT exam.
