PES University has officially announced that the PESSAT (PES Scholastic Aptitude Test) will no longer be conducted for B.Tech admissions from 2025 onward. From now on, B.Tech admissions at PES University will be offered only through JEE Main, KCET, or COMEDK scores. For B.Arch admissions, NATA scores will be considered.
The expected PESSAT 2025 cut off is projected to range between 108–120, depending on your preferred course. In the previous year, the PESSAT cutoff for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering was in the range of 450–760 (rank-wise). The general category cutoff is anticipated to be around 118, while for SC/ST/PH candidates, it is expected to be around 114.
As per the revised PES University admission policy,
- 40% of B.Tech seats will be filled through KCET counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
- 45% of seats will be filled based on JEE Main or KCET ranks, depending on availability and merit.
- The remaining15% of seats will be allocated under the management quota.
Candidates aiming for PES University B.Tech admission 2025 must now appear in JEE Main or KCET. No other exam, including PESSAT, will be considered valid for engineering admissions.
The PESSAT 2025 cut off marks will be declared after results are announced. PES University counselling for B.Tech admissions will be conducted in two rounds:
- Round 1 counselling: Expected in May/June 2025
- Round 2 counselling: To be held in July 2025

Previous-Year PESSAT Cut-off (2023)
PES University releases the PESSAT opening and closing ranks after each counselling round. The below figures indicate the Round-1 (general category) cut-offs for the flagship Ring Road campus in 2023, which provides you with a clear idea of the competition level for each branch.
Branch | Opening Rank | Closing Rank |
Computer Science Engineering (CSE) | 1 | 1,041 |
CSE – Artificial Intelligence & ML | 12 | 1,676 |
Electronics & Communication (ECE) | 16 | 3,486 |
Electrical & Electronics (EEE) | 2,439 | 4,585 |
Mechanical Engineering | 3,009 | 6,235 |
Biotechnology | 1,141 | 5,367 |
Note that even in subsequent rounds CSE hardly goes above 1 500, whereas core branches can relax by 25-30 %.
Parameters that will determine the PESSAT 2024 cut-off
- Seat demand vs. supply: the fixed quota of PESSAT seats (40 % of overall B.Tech seats) implies that any increase in applicants stiffens ranks.
- Exam toughness: a softer paper propels more top scores, compressing ranks lower.
- Test-taker numbers: registrations have been increasing every year.
- Branch popularity: CSE/AIML and ECE experience the toughest cut-offs due to better placement packages.
- Counselling dynamics: seat withdrawals and up-gradations between Rounds 1 & 2 tend to ease cut-offs for EEE/Mechanical/Biotech.
