University of Mysore Details

Mysore University was established in the year 1916 on July 27. University of Mysore is the sixth oldest university of India and it is the first university in Karnataka state. Outside the limits of British, this university was developed for the first time in the country.

Many renowned visionary had worked hard to make this university reach at this level, these visionaries were:

  • Diwan Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1860 to 1962)
  • Shri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar – IV (1884 to 1940)

This university was the first one which got accredited by NAAC in the year 2000 and it was accredited with Five star status and presently the university is even given on the scale of 4 university got the score of 3.47 CGPA. Mysore University is even known to be the high performing Institute. This tag of high performing institute is valid till 2020. The university is placed in tier – II category by UGC (University grants commission).

The university is leading with the vision to  become a world class university. The university is focused to bring out the students from all the sections of our society and then provide them with different opportunities to learn and to compete in different disciplines.  The university understand that they have to make the leaders for tomorrow with the perfect reasoning power so that they can solve problems which arises globally or locally.

University want to achieve their vision by 2025. University is trying to develop innovative things in different disciplines. University is committed to provide an interactive learning process for all the students and faculties.

University of Mysore has 63 post graduate departments, and this department offers 76 post graduate programmes. It has 1,20,000 undergraduate, post graduate, Ph.D., and M.Phil.

University of Mysore Campus:

The university has solar power as they provide solar services to all the water heaters and street lamps. The campus of the university includes lawns and gardens which are full of flower. It has a noise free environment so that university can provide student – friendly atmosphere. The ambience of the university is a world class ambience. The university has ATM facilities. The banking facility is available as there are two branches of State Bank of India – One of the bank is at Crownford Hall and the second one is at Manasagangotri campus.

There are six auditoriums in Mysore university-

  • Maharaja's college centenary building
  • The university college of fine arts for women
  • Kuvempu Institute of Kannada studies and Senate Bhavan
  • Humanities block at Manasagangotri
  • Educational multi media research centre
  • Bahadur Institute of Management studies

University has six auditoriums and almost all the departments have very well furnished seminar halls. Mysore University has an open theatre and that theatre can accommodate 10,000.
