There are various courses offered by Sambalpur University. The three courses are divided into three courses:
- Undergraduate courses
- Postgraduate courses
- Doctoral level courses
Post graduation courses offered by the university are both regular courses and the self – financing courses. There are many specializations program offered in post graduation course. There are many courses which are offered by SUIIT (Sambalpur University of Information Technology).
Admission in all the courses are offered through entrance test but admission in Btech is not through entrance test. There are many courses which are offered on campus and off campus also through the Distance education program at Sambalpur University.
Important points:
- To apply for the Ph.D. program the minimum eligibility criteria is that you need to have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks.
- For admission in MBA course, the candidate will be free from giving the entrance test as for this course they consider MAT score.
- Selection is done on the basis of written test and the score they qualify with, in the written test will be later called for the viva voce.
- On the basis of academic record and entrance, test candidates will be given admission under some regular course or self-financing one.
- To apply for the courses like L.L.M., M.A., M.L.I.Sc., M.Sc., and MPA you must have completed their graduation with at least 45% marks.
- For admission in M.B.A, M.A, M.Sc., MSW, and M.Tech. under self-financing candidates must have a graduation degree with 45% in their relevant stream.

Sambalpur Univerisity is a premiere institute of the country. Admission is done on the basis of 12th class score. Infrastructure is quite good. It is a good university to pursue any discipline.
