Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, previously known as Karunya University, commemced its establishment in the academic year of 1986. The university is located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Karunya University has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in recognition of its academic excellence by the Ministry of Human Resources Development and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It has been accredited with grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and grade ‘A’ by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Karunya University is a private institution that has been given the status of Deemed to be university.

The Institute has been ranked 89^th among universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

It has also been awarded Educational National Excellence Award for the Best University Serving Social Cause by ASSOCHAM INDIA.

The infrastructure of the institute is spread over an area of 700 acres of land. The campus of Karunya University houses three schools, mentioned following:

• School of Engineering & Technology
• School of Sciences, Arts, Media, and Management
• School of Agriculture and Biosciences

This infrastructure is composed of Research Laboratories, Schools, Academic Buildings, Residences, Library, Computer Technology Center, and Green Campus. The central library of the university is one of the central support services of institutions. It is well equipped with all the modern facilities and resources. These modern facilities and resources include CD-ROM, Online Database, E-journals, E-books, audio video cassettes, books, journals, project reports, etc. The library strives hard to provide information services.

The Computer Technology Center is a centralized computing facility provided for network and educational support. The center is properly equipped with licensed software and administrative requirements. Students and Staff of the university have been provided with email and collaboration services through Google Apps. Computing facilities include servers, network, software, and personal computer. These computers are well connected through LAN.

The faculty members of the university are well educated and highly qualified. The members strive hard to make learning easier by using several techniques. Most of the members are experienced in their respective fields. Faculty members at Karunya University use the latest technologies to impart knowledge to different segments of the society.

Karunya University Courses include programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It also offers Integrated program under several specializations. At the Doctorate level, the university offers PhD program. The candidates seeking admission must ensure that they fulfill the minimum educational qualification defined by the university.

The university accept online mode of application and the entrance examination is conducted online. Entrance examinations conducted by Karunya University are Karunya Entrance Examination (KEE) and Karunya Management Aptitude Test (KMAT). Karunya University Admissions can be achieved online by visiting its official website and filling the application form.

• Candidates seeking admission to the undergraduate programs are shortlisted based on the merit in the qualifying examination. While, admission to B. Tech is done based on candidates’ performance in KEE conducted by the university.
• For admission to the postgraduate programs, the candidates are shortlisted based on the merit in the qualifying examination.
• While, admission to M. Tech and MBA is done based on merit in GATE and KMAT/CAT/XAT/MAT examinations respectively.
