West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Wednesday a ₹296 crore grant fund for 80,375 state-run and state-aided schools across the state. The announcement was made during a press conference at Nabanna.

Composite School Grant Fund

The funds are allocated under the composite school grant fund. The initiative aims to improve school infrastructure and learning environments. This aims to encourage student attendance and engagement.

Adhikari stated the previous government neglected these schools, impacting academic standards. The new government has separated school and higher education into distinct departments for focused development.

The government plans to elevate public education to the level of private institutions. A key focus is on upgrading school infrastructure. This includes improving classrooms and facilities to create a positive learning space.

Teacher Training and Modern Education

Modern learning methods will integrate with Indian culture. This aligns with the National Education Policy. Parents will join school management committees to increase local involvement and accountability.

Digital learning is a core component. The West Bengal education portal will offer audio-visual lessons. Teacher training will expand via the Diksha platform. Three lakh teachers have registered on the portal.

These steps aim to enhance both school facilities and teaching methods. Union Education Minister Prahlad Joshi is expected to visit West Bengal soon for further discussions on education system revival. Land has been allocated for Kendriya Vidyalayas in every district.
