West Bengal Schools Closed July 6 for Public Holiday

West Bengal schools and government offices will close on July 6 . The state government declared a public holiday. This marks the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

Statewide Closures Announced

The Finance Department issued the notification. The holiday applies to all state government offices. It also affects schools, colleges, and public bodies. Rural and urban local offices will close. State undertakings and government-aided institutes will also shut down.

Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a notable figure. He played a role during India's partition. The government is honoring his contributions with this holiday.

Doctor's Day Half Holiday on July 1

Separately, the West Bengal government observed a half-day holiday on July 1 . This was for Doctor's Day. The day honors Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was a former Chief Minister of West Bengal. He was also a respected physician.

On July 1, state government offices closed after noon. Schools and colleges also observed the half-day closure. Rural and urban local offices were affected. State undertakings and government-aided institutes also participated.
