The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) has announced important new dates for the NEET PG Counselling 2025 . This process is for students who want to join postgraduate medical degree and diploma courses in government and private medical colleges across West Bengal. The committee has also introduced a new bond policy for students who might leave their courses early.

As per the latest update, today, November 21, 2025 , two key things have been released online. First, the list of students who have been successfully verified and are eligible for counselling. Second, the 'seat matrix' for Round 1, which shows the number of available seats in different colleges and courses. Both these important lists can be found on the official website: wbmcc.nic.in .

The online process for choosing colleges and courses, known as 'choice filling' and 'locking', will begin today, November 21, 2025, after 6 PM . Students can submit their preferred colleges and medical specialisations for Round 1. This window for choices will close on November 24, 2025 . Only those students whose documents and details have been successfully checked and approved by the WBMCC can take part in this choice filling process.

Key Dates for West Bengal NEET PG Counselling 2025 (Round 1)

Students should note the following schedule for the first round of postgraduate medical admissions in West Bengal:

Event Dates
Release of Seat Matrix for Round 1 November 21, 2025
Release of Successfully Verified Candidates List November 21, 2025
Online Choice Filling and Locking November 21 to 24, 2025
Round 1 Seat Allotment Result November 27, 2025
Reporting to Allotted Colleges (Institute Reporting) November 28, December 1, 2, and 3, 2025

Understanding Choice Filling and Locking:

  • Choice Filling: This is a crucial step where eligible students select their desired medical colleges and specific postgraduate medical specialisations. Students must list these choices in the order of their preference on the WBMCC official website.
  • Choice Locking: After selecting all preferred options, students must 'lock' their choices. This action confirms their selections, and no further changes can be made once choices are locked. It is very important for students to lock their choices before the final deadline to be considered for seat allotment.

New Bond Policy for Postgraduate Medical Students

The West Bengal government has also announced a new 'bond policy' for students taking admission in postgraduate medical courses. This policy outlines the financial penalty if a student decides to discontinue their medical programme before completing it.

According to this new bond policy:

  • Students who wish to leave a postgraduate degree course (like MD or MS) mid-way will need to pay a penalty amount of INR 3 Lakh .
  • For those enrolled in postgraduate diploma courses , the penalty for discontinuation will be INR 2 Lakh .

This policy aims to ensure commitment from students and helps manage the state's medical education resources effectively.
