The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has introduced an improvement exam for Class 12 students. The board announced this change alongside the release of the 2026 West Bengal Higher Secondary results. This marks the first time students can retake subjects to raise their scores.
Improvement Exam Introduced
Over 5.7 lakh students passed the West Bengal Class 12 exams in 2026. The pass percentage was 91.23%. Students unsatisfied with their marks can now opt for an improvement exam. Previously, students only had access to scrutiny or review processes for their marksheets.
Exam Guidelines and Process
Students wishing to take the improvement exam must surrender their original 2026 marksheet. The application process will be entirely online. The official WBCHSE website will host the application portal. Registration dates and the exam schedule will be announced soon.
New Security Features
This year's marksheets include enhanced security measures. QR codes and student photographs are now present. These additions aim to prevent fraud. They also streamline the verification process for all students.
Board's Objective
The WBCHSE aims to reduce student stress with this new option. The improvement exam provides a second opportunity for students to achieve better academic results. The board seeks to offer a clearer path for academic progress.
